This sucks. The Yankees did not need another bat in that lineup. Just needed someone who could play good defense. Damon has a noodle for an arm, his range isnt that great anymore, and they overpaid for him.
Yankees haven't had a leadoff hitter since knoblauch. Damon's range is fine, and he never had much of an arm.

Damn Damon was great for the Red Sox..how could he do this.

The Yankees barely spent money this offseason and they still get slammed for the one move they do make.

The quote you quoted was a slam?

Sometimes I wonder if Yankees lovers look too hard for reasons to defend their Yankees, when it doesn't even seem necessary in the situation.

Yankees offense was already superb, their defense was subpar... what Yankees needed is pitching, Dotel & Farnsworth were good signings but they need another good starting pitcher unless Pavano or Wright can come to perform similarily to the prior season before they signed their contracts to the Yanks.

I quoted the wrong quote, my bad. This is the one I meant to quote:

I am disgusted at this. I WAS a huge johnny fan. Now he can go fvck himself like the rest of those greedy bastards. I absolutely hate the Yankees, and I wish I had an unlimited bank roll

My interest toward baseball just took a plunge.Baseball was Yanks vs Red Sox.Damon was a Red Sox...and money bought him..

fvck baseball, its only about money...no more interesting.

This deal is the worst in sports history.I remember in the NHL when Fuhr sign with the flames...it felt really strange....same as Fiset playing for the Habs...

But this....Damon to the Yanks....its just horrible.Jeshhh i remember seeing at the television a guy naming his son Johnny in memory of Damon...now his wife will dump him!!! :D

And it continues. They Yankees have barely done anything noteworthy this offseason and they still get bashed for spending money. Unbelievable.

Seriously ThePresence.I know your a die hard Yanks fan.How do you feel about that deal? Do you think this is good or bad for baseball? I think this is pretty bad personnaly.( not for the yanks team..but for the baseball itself)Its something you dont think that will happen...its like Jeter or Williams going with the Red Sox...its the unthinkable.

hey I love JD just like any other Sox fan, but I knew all along that he was no different from ANY other MLB player when it came to money - don't think loyalty counts a bit in professional sports, because it doesn't!

This is not Barry Bonds going to the Dodgers. Really. It's not even Bernie Williams going to the Sox. He's only been in Boston since 2002, not like he's a career long Red Sox player. I don't think it's good or bad for baseball, it's a simple free agent signing. What gets me mad is everyone automatically knee-jerking how the Yankees are throwing money around again when they barely did anything notable this offseason and were remarkably frugal. I don't see people complaing about Toronto's signings which completely overshadowed the few moves the Yankees made.

Is that why Paul Konerko stayed in Chicago instead of taking more money from Anaheim?

That's bullsh!t. Damon became a name when he joined the Red Sox. He was barely known in his days in KC. Boston helped create him as a media/wholesale name. He was loved by the town, and offered a more than generous deal. He turned it away for a few more million. As if he didn't already have enough money. Fvck him.

I'm sorry you didn't know about him in KC and Oakland, I certainly did, as did most people who follow the game. Sure, he blossomed in Boston because he was in the limelight more. His numbers did not radically improve in Boston. Yes, he was a popular figure, but he's only been in Boston since 2002. It's a simple free agent signing.

Here's the world's smallest violin playing for you.

And people wonder why baseball is losing popularity to football. :disgust:
