The most recent Vancouver meetup was last summer at Las Margaritas. We had a small turnout but a great time. So I thought we should arrange another one.

One nice advantage is that, with the Olympics just around the corner, we can include out-of-town AT'ers who are visiting.

I'm open to all suggestions for venues and dates. I know there are a lot of free festivities downtown during the Olympics - I'll post links for some of those later.

I've personally been to Yaletown Brew Pub and enjoyed it. The reviews for Morrissey seem to be good, so I included it.

Thoughts? Any other suggestions? I'm just basing this on the actual restaurants/pubs; I have no idea what is a good venue for watching Olympic events.

I'm coming up for the Olympics and I'll be in town from the 19-24th. I'm not sure if I'll have time when I'm there, but I'll try to make it if a meetup happens sometime then.
 
I might be in, downtown Vancouver is a bit of a drive for me so it will depend when and where. As it comes together I will decide.

It's still in the 'talk" phase but it looks like we are all going to KeithTalent's to watch the games on his HDTV.
 
If you come to Victoria I may consider it. I'm not paying for the damn ferry just to get drunk and taken advantage of by one of you.
 
Urg, Olympic traffic?

Depending on the date perhaps I can drag my cadre (linuxboy, Zenmervolt and Orsorum) up from Seattle for a visit. Though I'm thinking of putting together a Seattle meet sometime when the weather gets nice.
 
I'll wait till things are more solidifed in terms of venue and date before I throw my hat in the ring. Again as most people know I'm not usually the most social type (social anxiety) and I'm not exactly the biggest sports fan. But you never know, given the right circumstances I might show up. No promises 😛

Hotel/Motel room would be hard to come by during the game.

Last ferry from the Main Land to Sidney is mid night and it is likely that you have to be at the terminal an hour early (maybe 2 hours) with a vehicle.

Was a really nice change of pace, & the weather, well Vancouver weather vs. Edmonton in winter isn't much contest. 😀

Haha, that's for sure! I have to admit when the Winters are particularly mild and snow-less like this one has been, I start to sort of miss my old Winnipeg Winters. I bet if I was actually back out there for one I would hate it though. 😀

aka, not Canuck as far as I know. Perhaps you mean "Chesterfield"?(couch/sofa)

This winter has really fucking sucked.

Wake up, it's gray, go to work, it's gray, come home, it's gray, go to sleep, it's gray.

The only saving grace about this fucking city is that there are ski slopes, which Í haven't been on this year, and I hate the fucking Olympics.

Ah yes, Chesterfield. My Grandma used the Davenport term so I got confused, but I knew there was another term you guys used for a couch.
