Alright, I have a few ideas for venues:

Black Frog Eatery, Gastown
http://www.theblackfrog.ca/

The Morrissey, Yaletown
http://www.morrisseypub.com/

Glowbal, Yaletown
http://www.glowbalgrill.com/

Yaletown Brew Pub, Yaletown
http://www.markjamesgroup.com/yaletown.html

I've personally been to Black Frog and Yaletown Brew Pub and enjoyed them (only had food at Yaletown Brew Pub), so I know they're good. The reviews for Morrissey and Glowbal seem to be good, so I included them.

Thoughts? Any other suggestions? I'm just basing this on the actual restaurants/pubs; I have no idea what is a good venue for watching Olympic events.

Let's get a short-list together.

Never been to The Black Frog.

I'd nix Glowbal, it's overpriced and a freaking fashion show whorefest.

Morrisey is decent, though a bit darker. Decent brew selection for those that care. Only had small snacks there, but they were fine. This is not really Yaletown, it's just on the farther end of Granville, but still Downtown. About a block away from The Cecil...:hmm:

Yaletown is much more open and bright, but otherwise similar (beer and food-wise) to the Morrisey though I think I prefer the beer selection at Morrisey. Since it's so open it may good for those ATers worried about getting raped or whatever is they are afraid of.

I see...you've got a lot of love for Glowbal then :D. I'll nuke it.

Black Frog is a pretty basic, inexpensive Irish pub. Decent, clean and budget-conscious.

Hmm, Morrisey is close to Cecil you say? Well, I had been meaning to go there again before it closes forever . Could be a pretty epic meetup double-header.

I've always liked Yaletown Brew Pub; that's why I included it. But I thought it would be good to branch out a bit too. Yea, no one's getting raped (or price-raped) there haha, not in our quiet little corner of the earth!

I'll check back on this thread in a couple days to see if there are more suggestions, and then I'll narrow it down to Morrissey, Yaletown and maybe one other spot, and pick some dates.

Cheers.

Haha no, not afraid of getting raped. Just never been very social, and had life long issues with depression/anxiety.

Or am I afraid of getting raped? Hmmm :hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm:

Let's stay FAR away from downtown if this is going to happen during the olympics.

Dockside Restaurant & Brewing parking sucks, but the view is great so as the foods. Or, we can try something different like Burgoo Bistro on Lonsdale (not sure if the game affect this area). Maybe Arms Reach Bistro Deep Cove would be the place.

I'd also nix Glowbal, but I'd like to add Steamworks to the list. It's right at Waterfront station so it'll be easy to find. Fantastic beer, and the place is huge (but busy).
