While I don't agree with their stance, and I really don't like what the flag stands for, I don't think anyone is right when they want to strip away a person's personal freedom to display what he likes. As long as he's not breaking any laws, or harming anyone, that's what make this country great - the freedom afforded to us.
Hopefully the guy that threw the punch gets thrown in jail for aggravated assault.
I live I the south and to be honest from what I see the flag has taken on new meaning, it is not representative (by those who fly it now) of the Confederacy or the civil war, but rather a flag of southern pride. Sounds stupid, and I can see where people would be offended due to its history, but that is what I see that it currently stands for.
I don't fly it btw because I think it's stupid, and those that do fly it tend to be hicks.
What is Southern Pride?
That's because the symbol is banned. You don't see young Germans running around waiving the Nazi flag to remember their ancestors who were just caught up fighting their government's war because they are embarrassed enough by it to know better.
You must be new hereThe ignorance displayed on this board about the battle flag is truly astounding.
Racist black guy punches white guy that believes in the freedoms this country was founded upon.Would rather read an article than watch that video. What's the context?

I'm going to change the meaning of the nazi flag to mean love for jews!
We'll see how well that goes.
The Confederate Battle Flag was the symbol of a group of people fighting to maintain their right to keep slaves. Any one of these hicks that sits there claiming "Southern Pride" just isn't man, or woman, enough to just come out and either admit that a.) they are too stupid to grasp why the flag is offensive as hell. or b.) they are supremely racist.
"Well, my gran-pappy died fighting the northern invaders. So I gotsta waive this flag around to remember him." Your gran-pappy may have been caught up in the rich elite's war to maintain slavery, but that doesn't make him blameless.

This flag offends me, I should punch him.

Can we ban crucifixes too, since the KKK used those as well to oppress black people? You want a symbol that reprents some of the darkest times in history, that makes the time of Hitler and Joseph Stalin look like a walk in the park, there you have it.
So when are we going to start taking a stand against crucifixes? I'm offended! When will it be ok for me to walk up and punch someone in the face that's wearing a cross?
You ever going to learn to size your photos?
