I'm not sure about this one. Seems like its going to be a Rust type survival game it has a lot of stuff I do like but....
Its from Funcom and they aren't too good a getting stuff done

Plus I saw on some forum that some are already complaining about the slavery mechanic. Remember this is Funcom that wants to keep everyone happy.

So I guess I'm cautiously optimistic. I'll probably buy in the early access provided its not dumb expensive.

I refuse to buy early access games. It seems (especially the survival category) most developers get a good chunk of their money right off the bat, give us something semi-stable to play, then make small additions and changes here and there over the course of a few years.

+ It appears to directly correct several mechanics problems Rust has.
- Funcom is a huge fuckup company.

What do you mean people are complaining about the slavery mechanic? As in it's offensive? looooooool

Yup, I believe one quote was "I want to play this game but the though of a slavery mechanic makes me sick"

People have forgotten that video games are just like movies - sometimes they will feature content that doesn't agree with the player (Django Unchained/GTA series), but these days, people are trying to be too sensitive/politically correct and attempting to force developers to remove some of this questionable content. I don't care if there is a slavery mechanic in a video game because I understand it's not reality.

That being said, the fact Funcom is behind this game is pretty much an instant rejection from me.

Ah yes, I remember those parts in Conan where he used explosive arrows, fought a giant bat, and built a town with his bare hands.

I still think it has potential but I need to know the early access cost and it needs to be low because Funcom carries additional risk.
Come on it Conan

Survival Early Access games definitely are the worst offenders. Are there even any examples of good survival games that aren't still some form of early access (other than Minecraft)?

While its still in Early Access, 7 Days to Die is a crap ton of fun and fairly complete.

I'd argue that Dwarf Fortress is both survival and not early access (alpha? free? meta-game? Who knows!). You are right though, it's like survival EA games are where bad devs go to die. Like some kind of zombie infested elephant graveyard.

Mostly unplayable so far. Not really sure what useful info the reviews have about the actual game.

So.. anyone try it? Reviews are.... mixed, to say the least.

Seems like the negatives are about load times & server down time. Which if that's a deal breaker I'd advise avoiding EA.

Rev have you picked it up?

Edit: Alright this is an odd thing but I hate games with full nudity its not something that I feel is wrong, I just hate the idea of ass clowns running around tea bagging people. I also don't want to explain to my other half why I'm playing a game with a bunch of naked guys running around hitting each other with clubs.
I read it has a dong slider during character generation.

*warning virtual nudity ahead*

All I saw was the game has sliders to adjust penis and boob size so it looks like a worthy game.

Not to mention I was watching a stream on twitch and the guy had his character swimming and the animation of it lets you see a good 6 inches inside of her.

Otherwise them making it a game like ark / rust where it's so many little servers ruins it for me as these are usually crap compared to normal game servers for this type of game but then again I suppose actually having dedicated servers with a ton of people is not the way to go when you can have people host their servers for you.

Yes, I haven't really played it yet though since the servers were rubber bandy messes though. Some serious problem with BattleEye. Partially fixed now I think?

You can play on non-nudity servers, and I think control nudity with client side settings.

I bought it and will be trying it out later today. From what I've seen it looks like fun, but the raiding aspect is broken because you can easily access metal weapons that break down even stone doors easily, and the next tier of door/wall comes at a much later level, which means you can be locked into a cycle of being raided.

And, when you're raided, since containers are automatically locked, those who raid you will have no choice but to destroy everything that might contain loot just to see what you have.

So being raided is very punishing. I'm playing on a pvp blitz server with clan mates and apparently there's loads of fighting, but the server gets wiped after a month. By then balance issues should be resolved.

haha thanks.

I will purchase this tonight and provide my feedback. Considering I am a huge survival fan I will have to try this out. EA games can be hit or miss but I do love the Conan universe. Also this looks to have a ton of potential. Problems in EA games are expected.

The more I look into this game the more excited I am getting. This could be the Rust replacement I have been waiting for. ;)

Ok so I was able to play a few hours tonight. I would compare this game more to Ark than Rust but it does share some with both. It is visually stunning and it runs really really good. I'm playing the game with all Ultra settings at 4K and it runs really well. I locked it to 60 fps and it stays there. Very steady fps. The game is brutal. It seems like as soon as you get out of the desert there are beasties everywhere and pretty much everything wants to eat you. The NPC's at this early stage are very challenging. I've learned after being killed a number of times to stay clear of the NPC war bands...and just about everything else too! Game mechanics are pretty solid from what I have seen so far. I haven't played enough to judge it really but a few hours in, got to level 6, built my first base and the basic tools, weapons and clothing. So far so good. This game has a ton of potential. I think if you are a fan of Rust and or Ark you will dig this game.

I like it so much I rented a server for it so i have a place to play while I learn and will get some friends on it too. All in all a big thumbs up so far.
