Computer won't Power Up - PSU is NOT Bad...

I posted this the other day. In a nutshell it states how I couldn't get the computer to power up after removing a HD and some RAM.

First Post

I followed most of the suggestions, yet nevertheless had no luck. I brought my PSU to Fry's last night, they checked it and it was fine.

I came home, completely removed everything, then put the MOBO, PSU and Ram back in (I may have also had the HD plugged in - can't remember). Anyways, I did a quick test-boot and it started up. I turned it off immediately (like after 2 seconds of the boot starting). Thinking my problem was fixed, I put the rest of it back together. Well, no luck there after...again, no power.

Today I once again took EVERYTHING out of the box, remounted the MOBO, Ram and PSU and tried to turn it on....nothing. No power, no flicker, no nothing.

I've checked to make sure the switch on the back is on the proper setting (though I try it with both). Both the CPU fan and Mobo Fan are plugged in....and there are no loose screws rolling around.

Does anybody have any ideas??? What would cause it not to boot (besides the IDE Cables being backwards & no power cables plugged in).

TIA

The floppy disc connections have always been a challenge for me. Try disconnecting the floppy drive completely (power and MB connection) to see if it's the culprit.

Use a multi-tester or set-up a simple circut (with a light bulb or something).

Your motherboard is bad. I had identical symptoms with an Abit NV7-133R.

How's about taking it out of the case to eliminate the possibility of a short? Then hook up only cpu/hsf, memory and video card/monitor- nothing else. See if it powers up.
