Ok, last week I got a new hard drive (Western Digital Caviar SE 120 Gb). I installed that baby, and all of a sudden my computer wouldn't boot anymore. After a few minutes of screwing around. I took the cable that connects the power supply to the motherboard out, and I reinserted it. Computer starts fine and no problems.

Today I get another 512 Mb stick of RAM and a CD-R drive. I install both... same problem. Except this time taking the cable out and putting it back doesn't help. I tried using just my original RAM, just the new RAM, all three DIMM slots. I also disconnected the power to EVERYTHING except the motherboard, and tried it like that. Still nothing. I made sure the cable that connects the power switch to the motherboard was correctly inserted. I am at a loss at what to do. Any ideas? My specs are below:

MSI KT-333 Ultra Mobo
1900+ AMD Athlon
512 Mb of Crucial DDR PC2100
Enermax 300W Power Supply
GeForce 4 ti4600
Audigy 2 Platinum
Samsung SW-242 CD-R
Pioneer DVD 116

Any help is greatly appreciated

I forgot to mention, I also reset the BIOS through the jumper on the motherboard. Nothing...

I just built my first computer 2 weeks ago, I used a western digital 120 HD, Ihad the same problem it would not boot up would'nt recognize hard drive. I unhooked everything rehooked everthing still nothing. I had set jumper on back of HD to master from cable select, originally, then to cable select still nothing, I then set the jumper to the single setting on the HD and it booted up.

Talked to computer pro he said the system was looking for two HD because I had it set to master.

Last nite, I replaced one fan with two quieter fans, for in and out of air, went to start computer it couldn't find hardrive again I unplugged the power and push in cable to hard drive still nothing. Finally, I just happen to push in on cable on the motherboard it booted right up.

Check the jumper
Check the power
Check the cables:sun:
