I just put this computer together last week. All of the parts are from previously working computers. When running games, and ONLY when running games, the games will suddenly vaporize. Theres no shuting down, no crashing, they literally disapear so fast that im still looking at the screen moving the mouse. The HDD which is normally loud when doing anything, doesnt make a peep when this happens. Since then I've gotten 3 blue screens of death that flash instantly then the computer reboots. These are rare though. One time I caught the file name in the blue screen and it was windows32k.sys .

This happens no matter the game, wether its full screen or windowed. Everytime it happens, I get two of these back to back in my windows application logs:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 6.

The specs are:
Jetway V600DAP
AMD 2800+ Barton
1 Gig mem (1X512 333, 1X256 333, 1X256 400, all running at 266)
ATI radeon 9550
SB Audigy 2
60 gig 133 IDE

One concern is that the board wouldnt recognize the 2800 barton as anything other than a 2200, 1.6 gig. It did allow me to "overclock" it to a max of a 2800+, but only if the RAM speed is set to 266. So it was either run at 500mhz slower processor, or drop the ram to an end speed of 266. I went with the latter.

Driver wise, all are manufacturer drivers accept the video drivers, which are Omegas. I have tried switching them out as well. The computer is behind a router with one other computer, my wifes.

Anyone have any idea whats going on? I have reinstalled every peice of hardware, and tested the drive and RAM, all checked fine. Any help would be appreciated : /.

Ok - Can you download and run memtest overnite.
Can you dl the utility from your hdd manufacturer's website - will give your hdd a good testing.
Are you running the latest chipset drivers?
Are you running the latest vid card drivers?
And last but not least, what psu are you using?

good point with the PSU... I'll try changing it out.

I'll run the mem test overnight, and I already ran MAXblasts on this hardrive and it checked out. The video card drivers are brand new, and chipset drivers are the most recent. Hopefully I'll find something out : (. Thanks for the responses btw Montag

Clock everything normally (no overclocking). If you still get BSODs, send me the memory dumps found in c:\windows\minidump, and run MPS Reports and send me the resulting .cab file, and follow the other directions in my .sig (URL,etc...) and we'll see if we can find out what's causing the crash.

On the chance that it's a hardware issue... what brand and model of power supply is your system using? Be specific. :)

You might try running the system with just the 1 x 512MB DDR333 module installed, raise the memory voltage to 2.6 volts if the BIOS allows it, and see if the 2800+ can be recognized as a 2800+ now, using the 166MHz bus speed. Ensure that the RAM is set to operate at 166MHz or at a 1:1 ratio with the CPU's bus speed.

Also, since your CPU socket is oriented the direction that it is, let me bounce the third and fourth photos on this page off of you... people sometimes take what Yoda calls "the easy path" and put their heatsink on backwards, when the screwdriver end of the clip is at the top of the board like that.

Lastly, what's your security and patching like? What exact antivirus, firewall, and what Service Pack level is Windows at? Do you have "risk factors," if you know what I mean? ;)
