Computer Put Together But NO PICTURE On Monitor

I have everything together and all the fans work, all the lights on mobo and cd rom... But no picture shows on the screen. I'm guessing its the video card but what do u think?

I would reset the CMOS, whenever I get no video thats what I do.

alright i have an ASUS a8n-sli deluxe mobo, 3200+ winchester 939, antec 550w truepower psu,1g kingston 400 value ram, Seagate 200gb 7200 HDD, and just a regular pci video card

how do you reset the CMOS?

Did your PCI video card work in a different computer before this one? I'm not sure if the A8N has a jumper to reset the CMOS, you can check the manual. Otherwise take out the battery and reinsert.

Usually there are 3 pins next to the battery.
a jumper will be over 2 of them that is the normal position.
remove the jumper and put it on the other 2 after you have powered down and grounded yourself, leave it there for a minute then switch it back to normal position.
power back up cmos should reset.

Does that board have onboard video? If there's not a video card in the PCI-E/AGP slot (not familiar with the board, sorry), it might default to onboard video, in that case, you should plug your monitor into that port until you can disable it.

Also, how many beeps are you hearing upon boot?

i hear no boot noise but i dont think i have the audio for that hooked up right. And a new video card and the reset made no difference. Also there is no onboard video and I have a regular pci video card

ok I took this to a local computer repairman, what he told me is that everything looks fine to him. He believes the my regular PCI card could be effecting the video. He says if I get a PCI-E video card that it may work and show video. He said you could probably change the video later in the bios. Do you think he is correct?

I regular PCI video card should work fine. I would hook up the sytem speaker if you haven't to see if you are getting a beep. Also if you have it hooked up, and get a single beep, but still get no display, it probably is the pci video card causing the problem. You can then also try to boot it up with the video card out all together to see if you get a beep code.

Remove all other PCI Cards and you may also need to set the BIOS to boot TO the PCI Video before the AGP. Often that can cause no video when using PCI Graphics cards. If that does not work Get a cheap Video Card for around the cost of a game ($60) and free up the PCI 32/33 BUS In the process for extra performance lift. I know it is a PCI-e Board but AGP may still be a legacy option in the bios just like ISA on some 865/875 p4 boards. Check to see if a PCI or PCIe Video boot option is avalable in the bios.

The speaker is on your case and there should be a small four pin plug with a red and black wire that comes out of the case that connects to the mobo. It is kind of like the two pin power connector.

1) ensure that you have all three power cables plugged in (ATX, ATX12V and EZ Plug)

2) ensure that your CPU is in the socket in the right orientation, as shown in your motherboard manual.

ok ive taken out the cpu, reapplied all that thermal paste BSand i put it back on EXACTLY how it tells me to. I still get "no cpu installed" on the speaker. What do i do?

i talked to a friend, he believes its either the cpu or mobo... but i have no idea with all the same problems happening elsewhere
