Ok, In that past I was cooling with chilled water and I never insulated the back. Well frost formed on the back. I freaked, I cleaned it all off and went back to just normal water cooling.

Everything was running fine intill last night. My computer just turned off and now it wont start back up. Now if I remove the cpu, I can get the board to start....as in the psu and the motherboard fan come on. As soon as I put the cpu back in the fans will twitch for a sec and thats it.

Now in the past when my fans have twitched like they are doing now it was almost always from something shorting the board. Is it possible that something on the back of the cpu socket went dead and for some reason having the cpu in casues a short?

Should I see about replacing the motherboard first or does it really sound like my cpu just went dead?

That is the problem, I do not have another socket 939 board. The best I could is go to stupid compucrap and get an Abit AV8 but lets say it turns out to be my board. I dont want an Abit AV8. I want a NEO2 but as soon as I get another one offline it will ended up being the cpu...

Thats why I thought Id see what people think which one it most likely is. I know my temps were fine, the only way I can see my FX going is if the 2gb (4x512) ended up killing the memory controller.

The Abit AV8 wouldn't be so bad if I knew for sure I could run at 250Mhz which should let me run my ram at 166Mhz otherwise at 200Mhz I think my ram would run at 133Mhz like it wanted to on my NEO2 no matter what told the bios to set the ram at.

get the abit and sell it if it isn't the cause. you take a small hit or you could just hold it for back up or return it to the store although i'm not sure of the policy on that.

it sounds to me as it would be the mobo so if you have a working computer you could get the msi in a couplke days from zzf or something.

Well it turned out to be the motherboard. Tho I really hate this AV8 already because I cant use all 4 sticks of 512mb ram that I have. Since I got it from compucrap I can't return it either. I will either hold on to it as a backup or put it up on ebay once I get another NEO2 or perhaps a NEO4
