every time i run it, it goes about 10 minutes and then freezes.

any ideas?

3.0GHZ E
AB60N Shuttle
240 GB of HD
1 GB PC3200 OCZ
Audigy
Ti4600

it is always during the CPU Test 2,

when i uncheck CPU test 2, it goes all the way though, but only marks at 1650, what am i doing wrong?

power supply maybe? i know that 2nd cpu test w/ the trolls is very hard on a cpu, maybe that cpu is getting too hot

it runs at 35 C when not running test and during normal activity, my guess is the power supply, only a 400W raidmax, what is a good one?

300W can run that system.

I'm going to say drivers. What have you got installed for motherboard/sound/video drivers?

all are updated i think, windows update shows that way at least, i havent update video drivers though because when i do, i cant play BF1942....and when i say at least, i mean raidmax, not a high quality

Windows Update knows nothing.

Update your drivers all around.

Just use the one from Nvidia's website. Then go to your motherboards manufaturer site and get the drivers for the board from there.

Given that your using a p4 3ghz E version which I presume is prescott, id say your mainboard + psu are possibly struggling to supply the power.

ive done that, certain vid cards seem to have problems with the game according to other people...and it is not overheating, as soon as it crashed i check temp in BIOS and shows around 36 C, which i seriously doubt would cause a problem

That wouldnt be a problem... try uninstalling then reinstalling 3dmark03, maybe there was a problem with the installation.

alright, otherwise ill probably look into investing in a new PSU....what is a really good one? one that will not need to be replaced ever (for a long time at least)

You surely have enough power being supplied by that 400W raidmax. I'd suggest investing in a newer graphics card instead.

i know 400W is sufficient, but im not sure how steady the voltage is, with higher end ones you can get a steadier voltage and higher current

For a geforce4 youi want to use the 30.82 drivers. The newer ones are optimized for the GeforceFX series and perform worse on the Ti4600. Also, try running Prime95 for a while to determine if it's your cpu or videocard that's causing it.

Don't use the drivers on Nvidia's site.
