why are people stupid?

several months ago a friend and co-worker came to me with a computer problem. he said his computer wouldn't boot up so I had a look at it. his hard drive was completely wiped clean. it had nothing on it at all. he said he had been using Limewire and some other p2p stuff to obtain various media, and I said he probably got a virus or something.

so i said, well, since you have an ancient and crappy hard drive in there anyway, how about we see what's cheap and good right now, and i will install it and your new copy of windows too, because you will need that as well. so i did all that, and everything was awesome. for a while.

fast forward to last week. work buddy comes over and says his PC isn't booting again. now I know it can't be the hard drive because it's less that 6 months old and it's a nice Seagate. I know it SHOULDN'T be viruses or malware because I told him to stop using p2p crap like Limewire.

So he says, yeah, I used Bearshare this time. "Is that one bad too?"

FMFL. i'm so sick of how STUPID people are with computers. WTF
I'm not even a diehard geek, and I know to stay the F away from BEARSHARE. >: |

This shit confuses me. I've used Napster/KaZaa/LimeWire/FrostWire/Bearshare/etc so many times in the past and I never had a single issue. I visit porn sites at random (don't fucking judge me) and no viruses/trojans.

What the fuck are these people doing?

It happens. Swype works great for the most part but when it does mess up its not like a normal typo. I have had some pretty bad facebook status updates because I didn't double check.
 
gave it back to him as is, he's brought it to a nearby shop.

pretty sure his Windows was nuked somehow. i just didn't feel like fixing it again.
