oc/ed is stable...hasn't crashed ever in prime95, and it rarely crashes during any prog.

anyway, i ran it at default clock speeds (including memory at SPD settings - cas3), and no go....

it has to be something other than other, non?

you tried using the disk defragmenter built in to Win2k?
administrative tools->computer management->there's a disk defrag option there
(in win2k pro, at least, i think it's under something else in win2k server)

i found out what it was...

the tbcspud.sys driver for my turtle beach santa cruz...i deleted it, rebooted and chkdsked - worked fine...
then undeleted it and rebooted and got sound back...

odd.

anyone else try this? (incompatiblity between SC+win2k+chkdsk/f)

mmm...i have no bad sectors...

the purpose of the chkdsk/f was to fix disk problems that prohibited defragmentation.

now, my drive is purring along as one contiguous file system...

also, i emailed turtble beach regarding this issue to see if its replicable on more than my configuration.
