Too bad. I live 2 hours north, and I think that's the location that normally ships stuff to me, when I order online. If I had more reason to go to the metroplex, I'd check it out, but that drive (and gas $$) would kill any deals I might find. Thanks for the heads up, tho! :)

BTW, I have some doubts anything left there. They are advertising "Close out sales" since beginning of August (10%-20%-30% etc.)

They are closing down one in IL as well in downers grove. I went there, but even with 10-30% off the prices are still more expensive than what I can find somewhere else on the internet. If you want nice deals there, you have to come later when they are about to close down for good because that's when they'll have "manager's special" markdown deals. Manager specials are the only thing worth there, everything else is just too expensive. I did manage to score WarCraft III collectors edition in nice wood-alike box with velvet inside, art book, DVD and OST for $18 there though, but that's about the only thing good I got there.

Compusa bought out the good guys there not too long ago. I remember lining up at opening day to check out the deals they had there. The employees weren't too friendly and prices were always really high. I guess that contributed to it closing down so fast.

Do they will have that god awful 15% restocking fee? I am also from the Syracuse area and I couldn't be happier that CompUSA is leaving. They stuck it to me one time on their restocking fee, and never again will I shop there.

LOL to Ferris23.

Does anyone know if they are slowly closing up everywhere? They seem to close a store a week for a while now.

I guess with these closings getting a deal even at 30..40...50% off is still a YMMV situation. I went to the one in Los Angeles (Beverly) CA. WHat a waste of an hour and my gas driving out of my way from the airport specifically for the idea I was going to pick up a cheap WD drive that already had a rebate. Not only were they out of said hard drive, but the ones they had in the 200-300gb range (IDE or SATA) were still $160-$300. Even at 50% (which they only had 20-30% off select items) not a deal at all. I walked out more disgusted than going in to a typical Best Buy sale event.

Their location in Indepencence, MO is closing as well. I didn't find anything that looked very good though. Nearly everything is 25% off what appears to be the MSRP, so you're still paying higher than online. Store signage says 25-50% off everything, but the only thing I saw more than 30% was cables (50%), which are still priced at several times wholesale.

Some discounts I remember offhand:
all drives 25% (74GB raptor $150 seemed warm)
LCDs 30% off (mostly small or apple ones left)
vid cards 25% off
cables 50% off
BYOS parts 40% off (fans, PSUs, cases, heat sinks, very picked over)

This is always the case with liquidators. Let me guess, the signs all look alike and are di-chromatic with large % displayed prominently?

They all get liquidated by the same people, and while they don't raise the prices, they leave them all at regular price, so it's a great deal of YMMV at these places. Also, most will stamp your credit card receipt with "NO RETURNS" and you can't get refunds/exchanges.

With such volatile pricing at computer places, these have to be the worst liquidations to shop.

Well, they didn't open new store, but as you said they relocated. Originally they had a store at the intersection of Finley and Butterfield, about two or three years, they moved it couple blocks east. Dunno, maybe couldn't pay the rent or wanted bigger space.

They've still got a lot of Thermaltake Sharks and a Thermaltake Armor Jr. for $89.99 each. Pretty good IMO

Oh, I just checked CompUSA's website and it seems they have a $30 rebate for the Shark. So if you get it at SF Stonestown, you might be able to get it down to $60AR
