this MN resident says, "Good riddance!"
Prices will only go up and sales will dry up in the absence of competition.

I think it was all the online competition that drove them under.

CompUSA... home of the $20 6ft "premium" Ethernet cable.
I thought that was Best Buy.

Our one local store isn't closing and I don't know whether to be sad (no store-closing deals) or glad (future deals).

i dont like compusa, but the store near my home was good for some urgent pickups. and it's closing (Queens, NYC store in rego park). oh well i guess i will have to go BB or CC. which i don't like either.

i wish there's a fry's near NYC

Only shopped there when they had ridiculous sales/rebates... I've been in there like 3 times. The place was always "dead" and it's next to a mall too.

As expected, both stores in Manhattan near me will remain open. The Fifth Avenue store in Manhattan was my very first real employer [back in 1999] and I had the greatest job ever there.

Even so, I am sad to see that they will remain open, those a$$holes laid me off after some Mexican company bought them out. lol. They treated us like criminals, with NYPD officers and everything watching us pack our stuff...

So the ones not listed will liquidate on the 28th? confused

Its a crap shoot. I just went to the one nearest to me and the only difference was they had paper signs taped to the wall that said "ALL SALES FINAL, CHECKS NOT ACCEPTED". No Price cuts whatsoever.

Not too shabby.

Plano (6 Miles)
Frisco (6 Miles)

Oklahoma City (177 Miles)
Austin (195 Miles)
South Austin (209 Miles)

Newegg needs to open up retail stores, that'd be sweet...

And I know the perfect location for that too 😉, in the place soon to be free from CompUSA, next to where I live.

Checked out several CompUSAs today....very uneventfull. Just about everyone I talked to didn't really know what was going on. All sales were final today...but hardly anything was on sale. No markdowns taken until the "liquidation team comes" whatever that means.
