holy crap, closest store is now going to be 44 miles away in another state.

Damn, I like Compusa, especially the black friday deals.

What the? They already closed the one in Omaha? I could have sworn it was still open just a couple weeks ago.

i just put in my zipcode and the store a few miles from me didnt show up. i also tried my state, and only one store showed up - and i know of at least 3 more just in northern jersey.

so basically, i would guess if you see the store on the locating page on compusa - it is staying.

Wow, none in the Atlanta area anymore, 144 miles away in Knoxville is the closest one

Closest one to my house in Dallas is now 20 miles away, and we have pretty much everything within a 10 mile radius

The "everyone buy a PC"/hobbyist fad market is over. The new one is Big Screen TV's. Expect a similar downturn cycle on all the big box retailers and specialty shops who depend on these things for the bottom line once you can buy a 70" HDTV for $300 in a few years.

If you don't diversify and stay ahead of the fad markets, this will be your fate. Same thing more or less has already occured in the vid card market. Aside from the bleeding edge stuff, it's all been consolidated and moved into the big boxes, barely taking up a couple of shelves, when it used to be one of the main reasons you went to a computer store.

The following stores were found around zip code 63119 (Saint Louis, MO). The estimated distance from your zip code is provided in parentheses.

1. Rockford (268 Miles) Small Business Center

268 miles to the nearest store? Nice!

The closeout deals are pretty lame anyway, IMO.
They'll try to sell their stock, then ship it to the open stores.

My closest store is staying open. I stop in every couple of weeks, but can't remember the last time I spent a dime there. The selection sucks, the prices suck.
