Just picked up the switch on lunch. Pretty nice unit overall. They had a ton of these in the store. They also had the 4 port siemens cable/dsl router with print server, 49.99 after MIR. Also looked kinda nice. I am tempted to get one as well for when I do finally get DSL to the house.

The PNY Optima 256MB PC2100 DDR went right in my 8K7A with the same aggressive timings that I had for my Crucial and it works just fine. (They are both rated CL2.5 but are doing CL2)
I ran SETI, McAfee Anti Virus, Zone Alarm and SANDRA Memory Benchmark at the same time with no troubles at all.

Question: According to CompUSA's website, Efficient Networks is the manufacturer of the $9.99 switch. Is the company owned by Siemans or does it make OEM products for Siemans?? It seems that everyone refered to the switch as a Siemans so I just want to know....

Sort of off topic, but can the siemens switch be uplinked to a hub. I'm not sure what the exact difference is between a switch and a hub

Thanks

I don't see why not...but what are you trying to do??

<< what the exact difference is between a switch and a hub >>

Copied from SMC.com -> All the devices connected to a hub are in the same collision domain. These devices share the bandwidth of the hub (10 Mbps for Ethernet or 100 Mbps for Fast Ethernet). By contrast, each port of a switch is actually the entrance to a separate collision domain with its own dedicated bandwidth. Each domain is either shared by other devices or dedicated to a single device.

In another word, your overall performance is better w/ a switch because each individual port gets the whole bandwidth.

I use switch/switch. And of course you'd uplink hub to a switch not vice versa.
Switch and hub have the same price usually, therefore buy a switch.

Anyone picked up the Pacific 32X12X48 CDRW and can tell us who the manufacturer is and the format of the serial number. I saw two sets of serial numbers the other day when I was checking these out. One is 10 digit number and the other begins with "FAB" followed by 9 digit number. I'm interested in this CDRW but don't want it if it's BTC, Top-G or other really low end CDRW.
