I dunno, that Maxtor doesn't look so bad. Not that I would buy it, but if I needed a hard drive _today_, it's not a bad price.

Anyone know if that Siemen's switch has a fan? I'd like to get one for my dorm when I go off to college next year, but I want it to be silent. Thanks.

I doubt that, it is only 5 port switch. $10 plus some tax is practically the price of NIC. I'll get it first thing tomorrow.

The Maxtor drive is $99.98 at Staples, add some paper clips and a $20 off $100 coupon and you can get it for $80 any time.

Too bad there aren't any rebates going on now.

The 40GB Maxtor seems to be 5400rpm not 7200. Unless it is a different one.
However, the price is already $79.99.

I was there today, and saw that they have the switch marked as 9.99 already, but when I read closer, it says starting tomorrow....... I pick it up already, but then I had to put it back......it is really HOT!!!

There is a NIC for 4.99 AR from Siemens too.

I picked up 256 MB of the PC2100 PNY Optima DDR SDRAM. Should work OK on my sister's new Dell :) I thought the price was great for 256 MB (great under current pricing). I just wish I could find a quality (but cheap) 512 MB Stick for MY Dell :)

Got my Siemens, great switch, works just fine. Smaller than my older Linksys. I think I grabbed the very last box. People grabbing TDK rewriters big time. What is going on with this rewriter fever?

Where can I find the $20 off $100 coupon? I've looked all over the Staples website.

The Siemens IS a good switch! I got one a while ago, and there isn't a fan, but it's really reliable, fast, very nice overall
edit: nevermind actually.....I'm thinking of the SMC.....I will pick one of these up this week though :)

No doubt! This is my fourth hub/switch and it seems the best. Now I uplinked it to my Linksys and there was no problem at all. Even without a coupon for $30 you cannot go wrong, there is just nothing cheaper anywhere. Looks good too.

Does this switch get hot? I bought the compaq 5-port switch from Best Buy a few months back, and it gets really hot. Anybody have experience with this one?

Demontooth - I bought the Siemens switch yesterday and am using it right now. It's very nice. Comes with a wall wart plus hardware for mounting to a wall/desk/etc. The wall wart is barely warm and the switch itself is quite cool. There are several vent slits on the top surface (along with LEDs) so it's not stackable like my Linksys or Netgear. Well worth $9.99.
