I bought a bunch of items last year that were "free after rebate" and they always took a long time before I saw any money, sometimes 6 months after submission. Especially if it's handled by "rebatestatus.com" in AZ. I'd say I have an 90% success rate w/ them. I've become pretty skeptical of CUSA rebates.

<< Does anyone know what the 3+1 multifunction stylus is? All I can see at the store is a 2+1 (pen/pencil/stylus). Thanks. >>

I think it is black pen/blue pen/stylus. I got one of these (also free after mir) during the Handspring deal back in Dec. and rebatestatus shows the expected mail date to be somewhere in March. I'm usually very uncomfortable buying mir things from CompUSA, but I might end up going for the CF card.

For those interested, I just picked up an advance copy of the CompUSA Presidents' day sale insert. The SKU#s listed for the free after $20 MIR Lexar 16MB CF media are 282504 and 287251. Not sure why there are two SKUs, but they are the same two SKUs from the 11/23-11/25 CompUSA/Lexar $20 MIR offer. The interesting thing is that SKU# 282504 is a B&M only SKU and is ringing up @ $14.99.

Also, is there no PDA stuff on sale? I was really hoping for the 100 games for the Palm and that quick AAA charger thingie they had a few weeks ago.

Thanks..

CompUSA rebates have been handled by TCA Rebates in New Rochelle, NY for over a year now, I believe. They're no better than CPG (rebatestatus.com) in Phoenix, in fact they often take longer to pay (usually 3 months), although neither takes 6 months unless the manufacturer has decided not to pay.

GetReal, thanks for the info. 27251 is the retail-packaged Lexar 16MB. I'm guessing the other one is the bulk-packed one you mentioned earlier.

Can you let me know the sku for the free-after-rebate stylus? Thanks.

Warning!

I picked up the the FMI 300W P.S. (283769 $19.99) last time it was on sale. It has good specs, but it causes RF interference sumthin fierce on my TV (Phillips/Maganvox 27") that's in the adjacent room (through a wall, approximately 6 feet away, P.S. was in closed case). I may be running my computer's powerstrip off from the same electrical line as my TV's, so YMMV. I also may have a bad P.S., though I believe its just a P.S. with little or no filters.

I put that PS in my T-bird 1.33ghz system with about 5 fans including the cpu hs/fan and the chipset hs/fan, geforce 2mx 200 (No extra cooling) SCSI CDRW, CD ROM, DVD and HD with HD cooling. The power supply makes an evil moan on boot up but after that it seems to have no problems.

It looks like 277987 but may be 277967 as the print is small and blurry. The 6s and 8s are hard to differentiate from each other

I'd like to get that video card as well, but I know nothing about it. I'd only be using for my second monitor in a duel monitor setup for Win2k. I've got an GeForce 2 Pro for my main, but this might be a nice secondary display card. LMK if you find anything out about it.

Anybody know anything about this vid card, like chipset maybe?

Linky

It appears to be a SiS305 based card. Here's the text strings extracted from the drivers listed here ...

Product = "SiS 300/305"
Joytech = "APOLLO 3DVR305"
Palit = "SiS 305"
Aopen = "PA 305"
Yuan = "AGP 110L/AGP 110S"
Asus = "V300C"
C.P.Tech = "CS305"
Gainward = "CARDEXpert SiS305"
Sparkle = "SP305"
Chaintech = "SI40"

wesbc,
punkrock is right--jabbra makes "earbooms" for different systems. The one for the Nokia 8200 series does not fit other Nokia phones, for example. This is true whether jabbra or Nokia or another third-party manufacturer makes the headset. Newer cordless landline phones use a standardized 2.5mm jack that fits them all--and some cell phones as well. Just make sure you don't buy the WRONG one and you'll, well, end up with the RIGHT one! ;)

Don't use CompUSA power supplies if you value your system. My friend got a lot of good parts, AthlonXP, Asus mobo, Geforce 3, 120GB hard drives, and went for a CrapUSA PS cuz it was cheap. When he booted up the system, most of his components were hosed along with the PS. But i use them when i build comps, so when it breaks, i can just charge them to fixing it :) And they break a LOT :)

Any info (SKU) on the free after MIR Winfax Pro? Sounds like a hot deal to me, and would like to pick one up Sat before the mad rush.

You might want to check out if there's an upgrade rebate involved before buying too. Symantec does alot of those.

Okay, if linuxguy is correct here's the specs on the video card. Any opinions on this as a respectable gaming capable replacement for an Intel 810 integrated vid adapter? Thanks.

I've purchased Lexar CF on sale at CompUSA twice:
[*] the first time I got a bulk CF card with a rebate that took 11 weeks to be paid.
[*] the second time I got a regular Lexar card and no rebate but it was one of those email only advertisements for in-store purchase

No matter which kind you get, think a bit before you spend your money; even free after rebate can be a waste of time and effort. CompUSA will be selling 16MB for $20 with a $20 Rebate. Staples will be selling 64MB next week for $20 after rebate. If you really need CF capacity, the Staples deal is a better way to go.
