Not to be a fanboy but that just sounds fishy. Even compared to the reviews.
The link to legitreviews shows the Ultra getting 53 fps with 4xAA at 1280x1024.
[Sigh]

Dude I'm not trying to be a dick, I know the GTX is probably 30% faster than the 2900, but you're not running Dx10 or any Anti-Aliasing. I've been testing, and the COH settings are what matter. It has to be on in the COH options.
Don't worry, I'm not offended! It happens all the time here when people start bragging about the length, girth and firmness of their e-penises. FYI, I think the Legit Review test results show average frame rates, which make my results using Direct X 9 pretty consistent. It's not really helpful to show the maximum frame rate in any test and the confusion over my results in COH prove that out. Who cares if I'm getting 220 plus FPS maximums if I'm only averaging 94 FPS?

Oh, and Terentenet, you're right, even if you set the AA in NV CPL, it will not override the game setting in COH. There's also no setting in my version of CPL (latest XP WHQL driver) to Override Application Settings for COH, presumably because COH offers up to 16xQCSAA in-game. Any way, I went ahead and set 16XQCSAA in COH and ran the performance test again in XP and my average FPS dropped into the teens (looked nice though).

Of course, if you set up 16xQCSAA in DirectX10, the game would probably be averaging less than 5 FPS.

In any event, I don't want this thread to be about my specific XP settings, I just wanted to make the point that Direct X 10 and Vista deliver a marginal improvement in eye candy at a huge performance cost in COH even if you're running top flight hardware. I thought my results would be of interest to everyone here since I'm dual booting and I have the naive hope that if all of us continue to post on this issue, MSFT and NVIDIA will hurry up and get the DirectX 10 problems sorted out sooner rather than later.

Anyway, here's another test I ran comparing VISTA Dx10 path with XP on Dx9 at the same quality levels:

XP runs like butter:
10.3 47.6 62.0

at these settings:

VISTA runs slower in Dx10 even though we're comparing High quality so there are no radical graphical improvements like the soft grass, etc:
5.9 22.4 39.6

at these settings:

Whew! At least that's clear now, and this is what I was trying to say here. That Dx10 is not worth using unless you have GTX SLI or something, and it happens to run like supermodel butter.

ill pass judgment until real DX10 games arrive

this is just a DX10 bandaid ontop of a DX9 wound. does it work in XP btw? also doesnt this patch mean you have DX9 and Dx10 code wizzing aroung all at once? if so i fail to see how this could run smooth

it doesn't.

but i think that's another issue, lol. In order for Dx10 to be rendered, I believe the entire frame has to be rendered with Dx10 code. I think to the bulk of the game's code, Direct x path is mostly irrellevant.

somebody correct or back me up?

Vertiggo, you're right. All scene needs to be written for DX10, not just some shaders/effects.
GTX SLI should be able to help, but it's not even working! DX9 or DX10. I get better FPS by just using one card. Fact is, for benchmarking purposes, CoH with SLI works. I get better average with SLI. But the game stutters like there's no tomorrow, completely unplayable.
