You know how when you stand on your tippy toes your whole shoe is supposed to kinda conform to your foots shape and whatever... well, with some shoes the back of the shoe just doesn't come up with me. Instead, my heel slips out of the shoe entirely or just some of the shoe. This could be because of bad sizing, but I am wearing some shoes that are definitely quite small/my-size-maybe-small-even and it happens with those.

Any ideas how to fix this? I can only find products for womens high heel shoes from Google searching. Figured ATOT, the true omnipotent source, would know how to solve. I'm talking about dress shoes btw.

Thanks
1) Please never call them tippy toes
2) Your shoes don't fit right and/or you're not using good ones. E.g. crocs might be the right fit, but they are bad shoes and I'd expect behavior like this from them.

I guess this would be too obvious.

Not really. Very few shoes are made for narrow width feet. Even fewer are made for long, narrow feet. It's not easy finding athletic shoes (running, basketball, ect) that work for feet like mine. Plenty of brands cater to wide feet but very few go the other way. Same thing with a lot of shoes. Trying to find custom sizes is not easy or cheap.

You have a problem with your heel slipping out, or the toe box has too much space and doubles over the tops of your toes, or you have way too much room around the mid foot and that slips around.

Converse and Nike's are not true to size. There is even variation between shoes of the same brand. Jack Purcells and Chuck Taylors are sized differently, for example.

I used to wear Nikes pretty much exclusively, and wore like a 10.5/11. I eventually switched to other shoes and found I needed about a 9.5.

I assume it's similar to the way women's clothing sizes vary wildly. Women want to be skinny and men don't want to have small feet, and some of the companies play on our biases.

Quit wearing high heels.

... and quit wearing glass slippers, Cinderella. :awe:

Also, when trying the shoes on, slide your foot all the way forward in the shoe until your toes are pressed into the toebox. You should be able to slide a finger into the shoe behind your heel, but no more. The finger should be a snug fit. This is how you size for the length of the shoe.

I used to be a 10. Now I'm probably a 9. Now I'm reconsidering and thinking I am more likely an 8.5 or 8. Which is weird because my Nike's that are 10s seem fine. I have converse that are 9s and feel large though. (Like my toe's aren't hitting the ends properly)

That's not that weird. I wear a size 11 tennis shoes, a size 9.5 dress shoe and a size 9 bowling shoe. It also varies a bit by brand.

Fixed. Many manufacturers use different lasts for each model. You really need to try on the exact shoe you want to buy, or a similar shoe made on the exact same last.

I'm not sure if I have the wide foot problem. It's hard to tell. I'm definitely losing my manliness though in this whole situation.

Weird. I used to be a 9-9 1/2 for 35 years and now for the last 10 years I am a 10-10 1/2 wide.

Trident just has too much anxiety to sit around the shoe store and try on different shoes so he is looking for advice so he can go in and buy them in one shot like a baws.

Didn't realize it was a trident post on first reply. Asics are pretty narrow for sneakers on the heel.
