Interesting. Those are certainly better scores than I thought we were getting, even one top ten. Is this because of No Child Left behind or something else?This seems to have no bearing on reality. Not only is US math achievement higher than average, achievement has been on a steady upward trajectory over the last 20 years. US math achievement is unevenly distributed, which is a problem, but the idea that the US has 'completely given up on math' is basically the opposite of what is true.
