Commercials that all use the same song...

It's hard to explain why it bothers me so much.

Multiple radio and TV ads use that Irish-sounding song that was featured VERY prominently in the film The Departed. The Wikipedia page for that song (?) doesn't even list the radio commercials for Tilted Kilt and others that I've heard. I get the impression that each place thinks it's "their" song and they think people will associate it with their business / entity instead of associating it with an extremely successful film that won the Academy Award for best picture.

There was a point when 3 or 4 different commercials playing during the same period all used the song "Everyday." Target, Airborne, AT&T / Blackberry...

The current trend is to use the song "I Bet My Life" by Imagine Dragons. At the same time, it was used by a car commercial and a Las Vegas commercial. Now I hear it in the Microsoft Hololens ad. The most annoying thing is how they all use the exact same part of the song, and they all use it at the end of the ad - as if it's some grand climax.

I also feel a sense of rage whenever another lazy commercial uses the song "I Want Candy." Candy Crush Soda Saga is a recent one that comes to mind, but their other commercials actually bother me even more than that one.

I FF through most commercials. I have tempered that for Super Bowls because of the reputation for having the most entertaining commercials, however I still find most of them plain boring. I FFed through a lot of them last night. Most commercials try to either put you in a trance or pinpoint some vulnerability in the participant. I save myself a lot of time by not bothering with them. Stroke my ego so I'll buy your car? Screw that.

Pisses me off too. Blue Cross Blue Shield blatently ripped off Phillip Phillips tracks, and it makes me sick every time I hear the commerial. Seems like a lot of others are using the same theme.

"On Top of the World" by Imagine Dragons was used a lot too. They actually have a lot of good tracks. Their 2nd album is due out soon, hope it's good.

I wonder if the copyright holders tell everybody about the others who are going to be using the song or if they just love all the royalty money. I guess a lot of people have the same taste in music.

You associate it with some movie? WTF is wrong with you?

I associate it with Dropkick Murphys, as it should be.

I actually like the song Shipping Up To Boston, but the group is full of libtards. They bitched at Scott Walker for using the song. Who cares!

"Safe and Sound" (Mazda) and "Somebody That I Used to Know" (i forget which commercial). Something about them makes my ears bleed, and I switch channels as soon as I hear them

I still loathe the Buick commercials the most, though. The song (something by Matt and Kim) sucks, but the whole premise of the commercials... really, you can't see the fugly car with the big grille and giant Buick logo that's 3 feet in front of your dumb ass?

Clearly, the problem is the quantity of commercials you are consuming...not their content.

For a while it seemed like every movie was reusing the "Kung fu fighting" song. Got old after a while.

See, I don't give a shit about the music being re-used. What pisses me off is the use of "saga" for stupid mobile games built for retards. I didn't used to hate the word "saga" until they started with that shit. Now I might lobby to have the definition formally changed to reflect something like

saga n. - A word appended to the title of a game directed at retards to make the game feel more "epic" for aforementioned retards

"I Want Candy" is particularly annoying because so many lazy commercials use it.

AT&T had a commercial with kids behaving like entrepreneurial business professionals.

Ad Exec #1: "What music will we use?"

Ad Exec #2: "Well, it has kids in it. Just license that 'I Want Candy' song. That won't cost much at all."

Ad Exec #1: "That's great! Kids really do love candy! You're brilliant, Ad Exec #2!"

Ad Exec #2: "I know. Thanks."

Then the commercial comes back a year after it had stopped playing.

Then it's playing simultaneously with another commercial using the same song.

And here I am thinking this thread was about that popular generic ukulele music that is played in both online and offline commercials.

Yeah. That too.

Standing person interacting with a floating user interface is also getting really old.

Something semi-unrelated, but every time my aunt makes a family video she adds that Over the Rainbow song by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Drives me insane. I look at her as she lost her damn mind.

I remember hearing the Half in the Bag piano theme from my roommates doorway, I walked by ready to geek out, but it was just an unrelated ad on TV.
