A bit slow for now but it's new and will be much faster later,I hear they overclock pretty good too.

I will probably try one this summer,if the price is right.;)

No. Not fast enough, and probably too exspensive (as usual)

Not more expensive,at my local store the 2.8ghz is actualy 2$ cheaper than the northwood, and 34$ less than a 800fsb northwood. :)

A 2.8 is $272 ? I will wait until Monday and read the reviews first, But from what I have seen, my $215 Athlon64 3000+ will still beat the 3.2 at $419 in most things (except rendering, Duvie)
And why would I want HT ? I can buy 2 computers for the prices they want.

Sorry, I missed that. But it is still cheaper than a 3 ghz prescott and very close to a 2.8 P4C.

Yup, preliminary reviews seem to make it look rather disappointing. The only one's really excited looks to be overclockers. Time will tell for sure though.

I agree with this comment,at stock speeds it doesnt look that good, but hey if I can get 4ghz out of a 2.8ghz prescott then I would be happy with that. :D

Are you hearing stuff??? Cause if earlier reports are true this thing may be running warmer then normal northwoods which pretty much top out on air around 3.6ghz....so I may think 4ghz is not in reach unless all the eviews were majorly wrong or had early silicon and not the good stuff yet that the respectable sites with NDA'S will have...

im gonna get prescott but now now. im gonna hold off til probably spring when the 3.6ghz socket 775 prescott processors come out. it gives time for them to work out their kinks plus i get to benefit from pci-express.

Last time Intel sent out samples they were underpowered, too. Northwood was going to be a marginal improvement over Williamette. Upon its real release we suddenly were whipped into a frenzy when people realized the Northwood was being held back for one reason or another and some part of its core wasn't being turned on properly for it to function at 100% of its potential.

Expect some whiz bang "wow" feature when Prescott officially launches.

As I see the results now, Prescott is not good for gamers but is good for programs that use lots of CPU power. Im getting Prescott probably next year or in 2 because i just purchased a 2.8C processor like a month ago and i expect it to last a long long time.

Prescott will probably be a marginal improvement over the current P4's, and the same price.

Just have to wait until Monday (IIRC), for the NDA's to end and benchmarks to be put up :)

Antec will be coming out with a new case for Prescott. It will include a couple of toaster slots.

Well, the NDA does have him tight lipped but Visionary posted a CPU-Z shot of his Prescott 3.2ES doing 4.2ghz on air@only 1.45v max link

I surmise Intel isn't screwing the pooch as many believe they are with this CPU. Unless his is truly exceptional, these badboys are gonna ramp well enough even on air to make them popular with enthusiasts. However, I think the recent trend of near silent air cooled overclocked computing will be damned near impossible with this chip. Anywho, we'll know soon enough ;) EDIT:the server's been getting hammered since he posted that so it will take a bit to load.
