comfortable, yet stylish sandal for men?

Lola

Please be careful in wearing sandals. Very few men can pull those type of sandals off. As a matter of fact, I cannot think of any male I have seen wearing something along those lines and thought to myself: Wow, he sure looks good.

Not saying you should wear ANYTHING for anyone but yourself, but that is just my opinion. I think it has a lot to do with feet. I don't think they are the most attractive part of anyone's body so in order to show them off, they should at least look somewhat presentable. I would think most guys do not really focus on having their feet look nice so it is even worse with sandals or flip flops.

just my .02.

The classic Teva mandal was great for the outdoors man who might trek through shallow water. Or perhaps for the avid canoer.

There is no reason to wear those things out casually. Flip-Flops are one thing, but once that heel-strap comes on you've got problems.

I'll grant you that some of the heel-strapped Birks where not so bad back in the day. But those days are gone.

All of the examples posted by the OP should be avoided at all costs. You might as well thrown on the tube socks, and a pair of Jorts (minus belt w/ tucked in T-Shirt) if you're going to wear any of them.

I wear sandals almost everyday, but I wouldn't wear those. Anything that's too "busy" on the feet just looks strange, imo. I pretty a simpler pair of comfortable flip-flops like Reef, Rainbow, etc.

Lola's points are good. I'm not sure if my flip-flops would fall under that category, but I can't go without them.

thanks. I have a pair of flip flops but I only wear those to the beach. Can't walk around in them too much because they're just not comfy. I looked up sandals on amazon and saw that one pair with the 9 good reviews, but I had a hard time thinking they'd look good.

so sandals shouldn't be worn at all then, unless I'm near a beach, pool or in my backyard?

I just don't prefer them, but again, that is just me... some random girlie on the internet. I understand they are comfortable, but I don't really like them.
Same thing with everyone wearing Crocs. Don't like `em. That is not going to stop everyone from wearing them because they are comfortable.

What about your standard flip-flops like these?

if you beleive the people on AT have any idea what they are talking about sure
i own 3 pairs of birks, in the summer i dont wear shoes unless its raining or im at work
i would never wear flipflops anywhere but the beach/pool/public shower

people out in public with flipflops on even the rainbow ones look pretty god damn stupid IMO

are there any suggestions for some kind of flip flop/sandal that is comfortable, yet stylish? Or is the consensus that sandals/flipflops are not to be worn in public?

Maybe that's how it is in New York, but I see people wearing them all the time. I fail to see what the big difference is between Birks and flip-flops in terms of style, but to each their own.
