It's confirmed then... There are no tapes. He has until June 23 to produce the tapes and his team will milk that deadline for all its worth... But there are no tapes.

Actually, his exact comment was - "you're going to be disappointed". I giggled at that. The 'implication' is that we'll be disappointed when we learn that Comey lied. The reality is that the tapes do not exist, and we're going to be disappointed just like the whole wiretap issue. Remember that? When he isn't lying - he is.

Here's something which leaked out of the closed door session with Comey:

http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/08/politics/richard-blumenthal-jeff-sessions-james-comey/index.html

This is something which came up in reports last week, but with more detail. Apparently they have recorded conservations where Kislyak is talking about meeting with Sessions back in May, 2016. If this is true, it's a serious issue for Sessions. He's had plenty of chances to set the record straight and get this right.

Too many posts to quote ... I'll just address to the last couple or so ...

In order to believe the "Comey is lying" bit, you'd have to also believe that he drafted the memos with the lies already there at the time it happened. As they were distributed to others, this would have to be the case. Something tells me this train of thought hasn't been fully thought out by those pushing the theory.

The theory also dies a swift death if any of the officials alleged to have been asked to pressure Comey are forced to answer questions about it. Any one of McCabe/Coats/Rogers admits that Trump asked them to push Comey, and the game is up.

News today is that Mueller is likely to depose Trump. Does he stick with the story, or tell the truth?

The discrepancies in legal talent/experience being assembled on both sides of this case are staggering. On the one side you have someone that has handled personal cases related to business dealings and divorces against the DoJ equivalent of the Yankees' murderer's row. The specializations being placed on Mueller's team leave little to the imagination on what direction this is all going and also that there are serious issues here. The team already announced isn't what I'd expect if they weren't finding anything or not expecting to press significant charges. The DoJ guy added last week (Weissman) specialized in mob and FCPA/fraud investigations. Today, it's their appeals and criminal law expert (Dreeben).

If these guys let Trump walk I'll believe him to be innocent.

But we already know he can't be impeached because of the senate requirement. So we know he's going to walk. Careful what you say, cause I don't believe you'll ever believe he's innocent... (cause he isn't).

It depends on what meeting they're referring to as the 3rd, but if it's at the Mayflower hotel then Mensch broke it some time ago. Big for several reasons if it's the same reference.

Amazing how things from Mensch and the Dossier keep coming up as "looks like they're true".

If there is some in need of obstruction of justice investigation, it would be Lynch. Comey testified that Lynch explicitly told him to alter the way he was handling the Clinton investigation. Did he take notes of the meetings he had with her?

It's going to be great once this investigation leads to shining the light on how corrupt the Dimocrats and Obama's administration was. Dimocrats get a double Trump nothing-burger while the nice cut of Obama corruption filet mignon is being dry aged in the back.

Lordy, you're not even dealing in the same dimension as the rest of us humans.

I believe that Mueller & his team will act with integrity. I'm willing to adjust my attitude about it all based on their conclusions.

I suspect that there's a lot going on under the surface of all this, a lot of real detective work. All we see are little bits & pieces of a much larger body of information that they're assembling. They'll tell us about it when they sort it out.

Whatever happens after that is out of their hands.

His bullshit is multi-dimensional & ever shifting. It's truly astounding that it's carried him this far, that the sickness he preys on is so widespread. Let's face it- conservatives have been getting mind fucked for a very long time to put them in a place where they'd fall for Trump.

This will be the "stick the fork in him, he's done" moment for Sessions if true. He'll most likely become a "martyr for the cause" and resign before he's charged, however it means that he, just like Comey, is an ordinary citizen and can be brought in for questioning by Mueller and Trump can't claim Executive Privilege, or he might try and it won't stand.

By whatever route we'll arrive at the facts of the matter.

That's pretty much my position at this point. I'm consoled by the feeling that regardless of the outcome, 2018 is going to rrrrreally hurt for these clowns, 2020 especially so. You can't suck this bad and expect to stay in office long, and with the UK's recent example to America's youts?

My own version of The Audacity of I Hope.

The voters aren't !@$#@!. The voters are desperate, and we're being played by both parties. Our system of 'democracy' has degenerated into the folks with the money rule all - and they've bent over to the corporations. I don't know if it's this bad in other countries, but it's getting pretty bad here. For instance - the FCC decision in direct contradiction to the 99% negative feedback during their open question session just goes to show how little they are interested in serving the public.

The last two presidential platforms were 'hope' and 'I'm not a politician, I'm going to fix it'. Both clearly admitting how broken things are. Now that I'm seeing just how bad Trump can be, I wish we had Obama back.

http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/337195-judiciary-debates-bring-in-comey-for-round-2

A key Senate panel is considering whether to step up its battle to meet with former FBI Director James Comey, who gave dramatic testimony this week to a competing committee.

Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee are debating subpoenaing Comey to compel his testimony.

The move would mark a dramatic escalation of their effort to dig into Russia’s election interference and potential ties between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) told The Hill that she and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the chairman of the committee, have discussed forcing Comey to appear before their panel.

“He asked me and I said I would,” said Feinstein, who made it clear that she would defer to Grassley on a timeline for the decision.
A spokesman for the Iowa Republican told The Hill that “no specific decisions on issuing subpoenas have been made at this time.”

Keep bringing him in to go under oath and call out Trump's lies and attempts to interfere in the investigation again and again. While Trump just spams Twitter and soils himself.

I can agree with this. While I didn't vote for Obama in either election, he certainly was a better president than any Con president in the last 30 years.

Nah, they're now all millionaires with guns, bitches and bling thanks to Trump making America great again. I would have thought this was obvious.

What was broken in 2008 was the economy. What was broken in 2016 was the mindset of too many Americans, particularly conservatives.

Can't disagree. Take my Evangelical relatives during the campaign...they hated Trump with a passion--which is no surprise, and wanted Cruz (who in my book is just as bad in different ways, but I digress). Trump could not be more opposite to the things they claim to value as Christians. But oh how that changed when he became the nominee. He is now the object of their hero worship, to a degree that to me is truly frightening...like Neo the One levels of adulation.

Again it's just team ball and a desire for authoritarianism (in the name of "security"). And of course the real motivation for the candidates (money in vast amounts changing hands in high places) gets ignored as others have stated.

I very much agree both parties have been corrupted by wealthy special interests, but that doesn't mean they are the same. Note that the FCC embraced net neutrality until Republican Pai took over. It was Republicans who brought us Citizens United, opening the door to almost unlimited corruption by those with deep pockets. For all its faults, the Democratic Party tries to balance serving special interests with serving all Americans. You can't say the same about today's GOP.
