Come get some..in hi-res!

I've seen this around but haven't gotten a chance to actually install it. Guess i'll have to dig out my old DN3D discs if I can still find them, or just grab it again from gog.com. That being said, I wonder if this will work with the GOG version?

Anyway, thanks for posting this.

I picked up Duke Nukem 3D from gog.com and played through the entire game using this texture pack. Everything looks amazing, and they've done a fantastic job.

It?s not just textures ? there are new particle effects, and all objects, enemies, weapons (etc) are 3D models instead of sprites.

?Damn, I?m looking gooood!? 😎

I'm going to completely agree with BFG10K there, I've played the game with the HR texture pack and it does look so much better. My particular liking was for the particle effects and improved enemy models. 🙂

I guess if Quake 2 style/era graphics are considered hi-res... it still looks fairly ugly to me. 🙁

Compared to the original they look very good, you won't get Crysis looks out of an old game.

This game was so critical during my formative years. I'm so glad someone is taking good care of it.

Too bad my CD is probably long gone. 🙁

It's only $6 at GOG.com, skip a latte and it's yours.

Very interesting, I might have to buy it from GOG, I certainly liked Duke Nukem 3D, and I'm ready to bet that it will still be the best of the series even if Duke Nukem Forever gets released. There are some games out there that seem to be untouchable not only due to nostalgia but because the game-play is legitimately recognized as being simply golden, and won't ever be equaled ever again, but of course it's always a question of personal tastes in the end. I just feel that way for DOOM II: Hell on Earth, it's the best of the series in my mind, even if DOOM 4 ends up destroying DOOM 3, but it won't ever touch DOOM II.

And, hell... $6, who can ignore such a low price, and if I'm not mistaken the guys working at GOG are actually talented enough to engineer in some changes in the game's files to ensure complete comparability with today's operating systems and hardware. Although I've never heard of the non-GOG version of Duke Nukem 3D ever having any problems on XP or Vista, perhaps it would have problems under 64-Bit, but even that would surprise me. Yup, I think I'll get it and try that out, I haven't played it in ages, in fact I only remember the first level by heart, the rest is history, and hearing that Duke Nukem fella again will surely make me smile, come get some! My favorite quote if I recall correctly was: «Your face, your ass, what's the difference.»

The gog version runs on DOSBox, but there?s no need for it. Just extract the data files into your source port (I suggest eDuke), install the high res content, and it?ll run on any modern version of Windows.

Yeah, it works flawlessly on Windows 7 64bit (build 7077)
I was surprised, it even supports widescreen resolutions!

This I am going to have to check out. I still have my CD, but I would probably have to jump through hoops to get it going on Vista. What's eDuke?

Very cool. Thanks for the tip. Looks great and runs better on Vista than most of the shrinkwrap titles I own.

Pretty hot. A solid graphical update. I lent my Duke3d and Duke3d Atomic Edition CDs to some one way back in the day and never got them back.

Luckily I have an old 2001 PC Gamer magazine CD that included the full game.

Shadow Warrior was crazy...easily the most feature rich implementation of the Build engine.

Too bad it looks like the Blood source code is owned by a different company now so it won't ever be released. I was a big fan of that one.
