Who else in here has comcast? Do you have problems with them?

I've had this connection for over 2 years and over the past year I'm not kidding I have to call the pricks at least twice a week to fix this sh*tty connection that they can't seem to keep working properly.

I'M GOING TO KILL PEOPLE I SWEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone know of any other QUALITY high speed vendors??

almost 5 years on comcast... barring the DNS issue a couple of weeks ago... we rarely had a problem with them.

check here to see what else is available. maybe you're lucky and FIOS is available in your area.

nice link. i found that verizon has fios in my area, question is how does the speed of comcast relate to verizons service plans?

5mbps/2 mbps = $40.
15mbps/2mbps = $
30mbps/5mbps = $200.00 ( )

not sure what comcast speeds are.
thanks!

twice a week for a year? wow, most people don't call the cable company twice a year, nevermind twice a week.

you're saying your service goes out at least twice a week, and you still pay the bill? or do you have credit applied to your bill from here to the moon?

so the cable company sends a tech to your house twice a week? 104 service calls and it still doesn't work? do your neighbors have 104 service calls too?

I'm not exaggerating, this is the last chance for these dinks. I've been saying that for a long time too. I've had so many techs to my house/area "trying" to fix it, it's not funny.

I've been paying less then 1/2 price for over 6 months now b/c of this....thats pretty much the only reason I still have them.

Why on the night guild wars goes live of all nights.......

Thanks for the links too by the way....they'll come in handy.

Try the DSL Reports link mentioned previously. I've been with Verizon DSL for 3 years and have had only one outage during that entire time. I pay $29/month for a 1,500/360 connection and when I test it on various sites it's showing me at around 1,470/340 so I couldn't be happier. Of course, there are people out there who hate Verizon just like you hate Comcast, and others who will say that Comcast rocks, so I guess it's a combination of a lot of different things. If I were having issues twice a week with my ISP, though, I would definitely look elsewhere for service!!

Here in Tucson, we have not a lot of choice. Comcast and Cox divide things based on where their cables are. Qwest, the local telcom, inherited crap from US Worst and has done nothing to make DSL available to everyone. (They need morer switches.)

I am on Comcast and am delighted with their service. I get terrific up and down speeds and experience only occasional outtages. They installed all new fiberoptic cables to our entire neighborhood two years ago, and I have no complaints at all on their service.

Your question about other vendors is not really relevant in that every locale is different. Cable TV is actually not competitive in that regard - if the city owned the infratsructure and awarded leases competitively, that would be another matter. But that ain't the way it works. So, the answer is - what is available to you?

Hmm, interesting. No I don't know of any sites like that to rate cable TV companies but I would think one or two might exist. Great idea by the way. You might have to resort to the old Google method. Or, better yet, maybe contact the people who run the DSL Reports website and ask them if they know of such a site. Worst they can do is say no...

Well my friend got the cheaper package from Comcast (4mbps down)..
and it's simply awesome.. he is paying like 29.99 I guess.. and he gets up to 450k/s in download and 20-30ms ping in CS:S
compare to my charter pipeline for $40 a month.. I get 250k/s download and 50-60ms ping in CS:S

Had Comcast for both TV and Internet here in Jacksonville, had similar problems and extremely poor service from Comcast. Ended up dumping both, going to DSL and satellite about a year ago. Couldn't be happier. . .

I've got Verizon DSL, good connection, only one slowdown, No Bandwith Limits like Adelphia and Comcast have, which means that you use to much bandwith on Adelphia and Comcast, they'll throttle your speed to a really slow speed for the rest of the month.

With my verizon DSL, i can play intense high bandwith online video games all day 365 straight, and wont get throttled(caped).

Comcast doesn't do that in my area. Well... they might... but it would have to be an insanely high cap... like 1 TB or something.

Adelphia's going to be bought or all ready has been bought by Time-Warner. Is anything going to change?

I quit using comcast when they "bundled" their cable TV package in with the internet service. Since I had no use for the TV, it was gonna cost me $55 per month for 1.5M/256 internet.
That was about a year ago, I have since switched to SBC DSL for $26 per month and have had no problems since.

I'm using Comcast. I had some problems initialy getting it to work with my router and stay connected, but got some new cables and the problem was solved, haven't had a single problem since. I had many more problems with my Verizon DSL.

Has anyone claiming to be capped actually asked the service provider if there was a cap, and if they had reached it? How about thoroughly reading the service agreement? I didn't think so.
