Comcast is a ripoff!!!

My best friend recently moved and had a cable connection in his home, but he wanted 2 more cable connections, so he called Comcast and asked them to come out.
The day arrived and he left the technician in the home. They ended up re-wring and grounding the cable which was not done previously...long story short - he recieved the bill. But his wife opened the mail -- $270 dollars for 2 hours work and they charged him $15 per additional outlet --- well they did not add any putlets they just drilled 2 holes and called the holes outlets.

Total bill was $300 + a $42 dollar installation charge...lolol

Wow, your best friend sounds pretty dumb 🙂.

So if he could have done this himself, why didn't he....do it himself?
Why didn't he get a quote before the job was done?

Comcast might be a ripoff but your friend is an idiot.

I you had an electrician do it that's what it would cost. And without proper grounding his house was a lighting/fire hazard.

Whenever dealing with Comcast, get everything in writing. I've been burned on being verbally told one thing over the phone and getting billed differently. Without any recording/documentation, Comcast can pretty much dick you around.

Yeah. Careful in Blacksburg, Virginia with Comcast. Apparently there is a 250 GB download limit on the highest service tier they offer.

when i switched from dishnetwork to comcast i had all the wiring done and hooked up. the only thing they had to do was run wire from pole to building which i believe we are not allowed to do. much simpler that way and no bill from them for wiring.

you could also try going strait to reclamations, tell them you are canceling your service, and get them to negotiate down the cost of such installations in order to keep your monthly business.

Shens. You don't have any friends.

I think Olds has turned into the "Shens Police"

Also OP, sounds like an exceptable bill to me. Work could have easily been done by your friend too. Not to mention who doesn't get a quote before having work done.

Can you please have your friend hire me to fix his computer/car/lawn mowed next time?

😕 Comcast was here yesterday for about 3 hours installing my new service. Not a penny charged for installation.
I'm paying for 16 Mb service, yet the slowest I've gotten so far is about 22 Mb.

I'm slightly disappointed in PQ, but at this time, not disappointed enough to switch...time will tell.

So far, I've gotta rate Dish Network the best overall HD PQ.

afraid i will have to disagree with you there. i switched from dish to comcast digital premier this past july and seen no difference in picture quality for the HD and noticed that the SD is better with comcast.

New installations are typically free.

Just canceled my charter last week. The picture with charter hd was kinda dull looking. Colors just didn't pop like over the air hd. Having uverse installed Thursday. Hoping it kicks ass like I've heard.

Thread backfire
Comcast WINS
Xfinity Fatality

I am spidey.

My only regret is that I am not female so I can bear Comcast's children. Maybe someday, by virtue of a mutant gene and sheer willpower, a single sperm will somehow impregnate me via my esophagus or anal cavity.

I've usually had a good experience with comcast internet until I moved to my current residence. Had ping problems and too many disconnects during prime time. I switched to Fios and have never looked back.

We had Uverse for 8-9 months. I was VERY disappointed in the overall "experience."
PQ wasn't great, lagging picture on the tv, (several of my neighbors had the same thing) screen would freeze, often requiring either a reboot of the STB, or even the entire system. The DSL, while faster than the tier I had before, also was laggy and jerky.
HOWEVER, their STB interface was pretty good and polished looking. I can't say the same for the Comcast DVR. It's the worst one yet...but, for the $50/month I'm saving over Uverse...I can live with it.

IMO. He was screwed big time.

A monkey could split a cable connection and install 2 wall boxes with cable outlets. for 25 - 30 dollars of materials and a few hours. The ground is a no brainer and should be attached at the entry point of the primary cable coming into the house ( it should have already been there ). No other grounds are needed for additional cable branches.
