The first few weeks at college was a blast. But I come from a large family (i have 4 sisters. BUT also had extended family living with or next door all the time) so it was not to much of a shock.

The thing that got me was all the food, women (a few at RIT that is), and work i had to do. But it was great. One of the best times i have had.

Do like Jordan Rudess did at Julliard. Major in music, be one of the best to graduate in your class, then go join a rock band!

Good luck in college.

Cool. I want to learn to play the piano.

Can you play Beethoven's Sonata 14 Movement 3?

The question is can he play it well:evil:

I'm sure he can play Beethoven's Sonata's just fine. In the grand scheme of things, Beethoven's stuff is not that hard.

which one is 14? Moonlight, Pathetique, Appassionata? Its been a while since I played.

The more important question is how is his Rach and Chopin ?

In my first couple weeks here of my freshmen year. Kind of sensory overload, so many people, so much work, everything so different. I'm really enjoying it, making friends, good times, keeping up with work, etc.

I'm a Piano Performance major at Indiana University (which is actually ranked #2 in the nation for piano studies, better than Juilliard even). I'm damn proud to be here, as I've worked my ass off to get here. Someone told me (I can't verify this) that 89% of pianists auditioning to be in the school are rejected. Being surrounded by all this talent (in the faculty and other students) is just awesome. And stressful, lol. Practicing 6-8 hours a day plus classes plus homework...well it all sounded good on paper. ;)

Anyway, I hadn't posted in ages, so I thought I'd say hey. Hope all's well with y'all. Guess there's no real point to this post.

Cheers!

Sound like you're failing at college to me, you've had a couple of weeks and still can't even mention a drunk hook up, shameful.

Eastman was ranked #1, last I heard.

Just because something is harder technically doesnt mean it's harder overall. If it were easy, music majors would never be studying Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, etc. I love romantic music, but it's not the hardest music to play just because it has the most notes. Non-musicians don't understand that there's so much beyond the technical hurdles to conquer.

Best of luck to you, John. Don't get too caught up in the party scene. Peer pressure is a bitch.

So is failing out of a prestigious learning institution. Remember that, OK? :)
