you'd need some foam or something at the bottom of the machine so the cartridges wouldn't get all messed up by the fall.

That's a really good point and good idea.. dropping cartridges on the floor can cause them to have dead spots on the print head.

There's one of these at my student center (GaTech). The prices are ok, but I've never had reason to use it as I have a laser printer...

really? About how many different types of cartridges does it have in it? Does it pretty much look like a normal vending machine?

Can you tell me if it accepts credit cards/student card?

As a laser printer owner, I rarely buy toner (I'm a low duty user, 5-20 pages per week) but if I were to run out of toner, I would not buy it from a vending machine. I'd go and use one of the computing labs on campus, since I have a ~300page quota that I never use. I'd simply wait until I could get a decent price for a replacement toner cart.

Yeah, that's why we would be focusing on inkjet owners because the cartridge replacement rate is about much more frequent than with laser printers.

I'll swing by tommorow and take a look. It looks like a normal machine, just instead of snacks, it has ink cartridges. Send me a PM to remind me...

Done. Good luck. I've heard some schools already have this system in place...was it MIT, Georgia Tech or somewhere else?

done. how about a vending machine that will also sell, cdr/cdrw, dvdr/dvdrw, keyboard, mouse, headset, etc.? maybe usb flashdrive too.

beside, you really can't make a vending machine that sell inkjet cartridge. how many brand of inkjet cartridge you need to keep in there?

It's a very good idea, except, that's a lot of expensive stuff in a small location with likely, limited security. And college students, in general, aren't very kind or respectful to vending machines.

Better budget for extra machines.

Cause you're going to go through a lot of them when people give it 25$ and the package gets stuck and doesen't fall down.
