Total waste of money. Didnt get one for HS, undergraduate or even med school. Men dont were rings, except for wedding rings, and then only to keep her happy.

None here. I went to Mich. Tech and while I enjoyed my time there, no way I'd get a ring.

Same for me, even the school. 😀
Really? That's cool. What year did you graduate?

Spring 05.

I also didn't get a high school ring. In fact, the only jewelry I own is a ring given to me by my parents as a keepsake of sorts, and I don't wear that either.

yep. The nonregs all usually buy one as well, all of my friends bought them and only a couple were in the Corps. I wear mine pretty much daily.

That's the thought on it here. It's a part of the Corps and it's the tradition. I'd say that 90% of all the juniors in the Corps get one each year. Our design this year is pretty freakin beast.

I only know one (maybe two, not sure) people from my college who bought a ring. I bought one from high school (well, actually, my parents did), but I never wore it. I am not sure where it is now.

The only ring I ever intend on wearing is the wedding ring I have been wearing since 1995. (Caveat: I may wear my dad's wedding ring if he leaves it to me. I have always admired it, even when I was little.)

My parents bought me one when I graduated (I paid my way through school, so they treated me to it). I wear it when I go to association meetings (mainly for networking) but that's it.

i would have gotten one if they wernt so god damn ugly and huge, i plain band with some engraving on it would have been fine, not a massive HS looking POS

A few years ago when I was a senior in HS, they had some people come show us class rings. They actually had some decent looking rings for the girls. But the guys were stuck this those huge giant rings.

I got my Iron Ring, but only because it was "free". After all that tuition money, the faculty figured it could spare a few cents and not charge us for the rings.

Hell no.

Brodie: Hey, look at that ring. What is that?
Jared Svenning: That is, um, my Junior College class ring. Cum Laude, '69.
Brodie: I also hope to cum loud one day, preferably in a 69.

How about a Pro Football Hall of Fame ring? I noticed that on a guy I was working with at a local 4x4 shop. Turns out, he played for the 1972 Dolphins and is in the HOF. Pretty damn cool ring...

I just bought my 2xCollege Rings this afternoon. The reason for buying 2 is that I go to Virginia Tech and am in the Corps of Cadets. It is traditional to buy a nice ring (Gold, Stone, etc) and then what is known as a "Battle Ring" which is worn around when you are in situations that would ding up or hurt your nice ring.

I know that this is a big tradition at most Military schools however I was wondering what about the rest of the college world. Here at VT it's pretty much known that while civilians may buy the rings, in general they won't wear them for nearly as long or as devoutly as a cadet.

Of course I got my class ring! But of course you probably know that I'm a Hokie alumnus by now too. I didn't get the battle ring, jut the 10k white gold and its held up quite well under almost constant wearing for 2+ years thus far!

Incidentially many people think that I was a football player when the see my ring.....well I could have been a RB, maybe....(6'3", 200 lbs). I never wore any jewerly before and have grown so used to it, my hand seems "light" if I don't wear it.

Nick Buoniconti, Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Jim Langer, Larry Little or Paul Warfield?

Probably Langer or Little. The others have gigs other than working at a 4x4 shop.

Langer. he is either the owner or co-owner of the shop. Pretty nice guy.

Here's what my ring looks like: Triumph

I don't like wearing jewelry but saw this and decided that it was a better choice than the larger rings that were available. It's white gold and has a ruby w/ crossed oars encrusted on it (I row for my school). Of course I had to go for the battle ring, which is a big clunker @ 40 DWT. 2 more and it would be a weapon

Yeah, the brass rat is a tradition and has a good amount of meaning.

A bit of a non sequitur, but I recall one year at Harvard when hordes of prospective (and clueless) students would visit wearing their "Love your beaver" shirts that had just been distributed, presumably jestingly, by some random MIT student. Sometimes the parents would be wearing them too.

Who the hell actually wears that? One would like an absolute douche wearing that.

It's kinda like adults wearing sports jerseys to work.

It's Friday before a Steelers game, so there will be dozens of adults wearing Steeler jerseys to work today.
