I've had sugar based Coke (and in a glass bottle too) in Australia. Way better than the HFCS one made here.

There's a black market in the states for Mexican Coke. It actually is a big issue because exporting Coke to the US violates the bottling company agreements that Coke provides their distribution chain.

There is one time of year that the Jewish communities in select cities get access to the Real Thing. Other than that, we're stuck with corn syrup unless we go to Mexico where sugar prices are lower.

I prefer real sugar over corn syrup, but not so much that I'd go out of my way or order it online to get it.

I've never had cane Coke, but I've had Jones Soda Cane Cola and I thought it was pretty overrated.

We can get Mexican Coke here no problem (Los Angeles) it even comes in glass bottles, however it is kinda flat compared to USA Coke.

Still way better IMHO. Now if I could get grape Crush in glass w/cane sugar I would be set.

I just got some from Costco, it was .75 a bottle, 20 bottles.

Its pretty good, a bit sweeter, and goes down smoother imo (doesn't seem as acidic).

Pretty cheap too, I mean a soda from a vending machine is what like 1.50$ now a days, so half the price.

The legitimate reason for the health outrage over HFCS is that it's so cheap and plentiful that it is literally everywhere and in everything. Especially if you're eating a lot processed or prepared foods, you're going to be eating a lot more sugar than the human body is used to naturally. Combine that with a stressful yet sedentary lifestyle, and you're going to get health problems like obesity and diabetes. So quit blaming conspiracy theories, watch your diet and get in the frackin' gym!

Actually HFCS is closer to Honey than Cane or Beet Sugar.

The difference is that sucrose is a disaccharide with a 50/50 split between fructose and glucose.

The HFCS in coke is 55%glucose, 45%fructose and comes in a monosaccharide form so the two compontnets are not linked together with a weak chemical bond.

In the stomach, sucrose breaks into its base sucrose and glucose ingredients creating monosaccharides, so it becomes even more similar once in your body.

Overall though, they both are chemical similar, though not identical and provide roughly the same amount of calories in dried form (4kcal per g) whilst HFCS in it's syrup form provides only 3kcal per g.

The truth behind the health issues is that any sort of sugar consumed in high amounts will cause health problems and both have the same effects.
And either way, regardless of calories per gram, what matters for weight maintenance is Calories in vs Calories out.

Regardless of calorie density, the overall calorie content is still printed on the label. People are either too stupid to do that, or else they lack self-discipline.
I'm leaning more toward the latter. Too many people seem to willing to blame some made-up "illness" on their problems, instead of, "I chose to eat that whole bag of Oreos, and wash it down with 2L of soda."

The reason it's cheaper is because HFCS is subsidized both directly to Monsanto and ADM and indirectly through tariffs on imported sugar and "incentives"to let domestic sugar beet production be converted to other crop.

The actual cost of HFCS is far greater than simple cane/beet sugar production.
But it's a trade secret and only Monsanto / ADM benefit from it.

You blame corporations? Try blaming government who has huge tariffs on sugar in order to prop up the price of corn.

Let me guess, you're one of those idiots who supports big government because "government good, corporation bad?"

For starters, it's not called Coke Cane. Just like you don't call standard cola, Coke HFC
