Huh, so Cascade Lake-AP is not using EMIB to connect the two dies together, instead using an UPI link. Kind of wondering the point then compared to a 4S system.

Maybe it does indeed have the additional AVX-512 units.

So tomorrow is the Intel Architecture Day. I don't have much in the way of expectations on anything interesting, but maybe you will get a demo of Cascade Lake-AP and possibly Icelake.

Well, they are claiming on the Twitters that Intel did give some interesting info. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Tiny workstation I guess. I imagine the only difference is ECC being enabled compared to the 8C i9 version.

Guess it depends on the Xeon that's in there. Can they fit a 48-core Cascade Lake-AP in a NUC??!?! Probably not. Also if it's Skylake-SP or Cascade Lake-SP then hello AVX512. Something you won't get from a desktop socket.

It's probably the Xeon version of the 45W 8C Coffee Lake-H Refresh. Intel's sold mobile Xeons before so it shouldn't be that unusual.

Tom's says the price savings is ... $0? OEMs are likely paying less however.

Tom says? Did you miss Intels price list and Intels launch from earlier this week? This is old, THG is really late on this news. With the same price it makes little sense for a customer to buy a non iGPU version, however the market price could differ, sometimes the Intel price list is more a placeholder.
