With a 1-2 core turbo of 3.9 and an all core turbo of 3.7, it ought to be faster all around than the 8250U with it's 3.4 single core turbo

Huh, so Cascade Lake-AP is not using EMIB to connect the two dies together, instead using an UPI link. Kind of wondering the point then compared to a 4S system.

Maybe it does indeed have the additional AVX-512 units.

Another Whiskey Lake review... it's really not that much faster than the Zenbook with the 8550U but it does maintain the MT clocks a bit better. It also isn't getting anywhere near the 4.6 single core turbo.

Lenovo PDF mentioning 9550U, 9250U and 9130U. Given the nomenclature this is most likely just Whiskey Lake rebranded; which is really strange given that Whiskey Lake was just made available at the end of October.

The info from the event has an embargo until Wednesday, to give us time to digest and write our pieces. There won't be anything coming out directly tomorrow

Yep, IanCutress makes the point that is important to remember re: embargoes: They are there to help us all write something competent, rather than rush to post the first half-assed thing we can come up with. There will be follow-up coverage, but nothing instant.

Fanless Tech is claiming that the Ghost Canyon NUC will also have a Xeon version. Kind of interesting since Intel doesn't seem to sell a NUC with the Xeon branding right now.

Guess it depends on the Xeon that's in there. Can they fit a 48-core Cascade Lake-AP in a NUC??!?! Probably not. Also if it's Skylake-SP or Cascade Lake-SP then hello AVX512. Something you won't get from a desktop socket.

It's probably the Xeon version of the 45W 8C Coffee Lake-H Refresh. Intel's sold mobile Xeons before so it shouldn't be that unusual.

Yeah. It's possible that Ghost Canyon was supposed to be the 8+1 Icelake that was rumored and they substituted it with CFL-HR.

Looks like the Coffee Lake Refresh F processors (which I think is just the IGP disabled) is coming in early January, along with the locked versions. Don't expect that big of a discount.

Tom says? Did you miss Intels price list and Intels launch from earlier this week? This is old, THG is really late on this news. With the same price it makes little sense for a customer to buy a non iGPU version, however the market price could differ, sometimes the Intel price list is more a placeholder.
