But if you drink soda pop instead of coffee? Yeah, FU, buy your own drugs. Coffee assholes, check your privilege.

My office offers a full refrigerator of free soft drinks, including sparkling water.

We also dropped the pot coffee makers for the automated machines, just put your cup under it, tap a few buttons on the touch screen, and it grinds fresh beans, brews it, and pours it out.

Also has refrigerated creamer, and the ability to whip/froth, so it makes a half decent latte.

I might have 5 cups in a 9 hour day (mostly decaf) and I have to make a new pot about 80% of the time. That's how often people will just let it sit and burn.

With this logic I recently got the boss to get us a Keurig.

I keep telling myself there are companies out there who make an effort to keep employees happy...

They should make a weight sensitive power cut off. (After the initial brewing)

Literal genius.

At my work we hav ebasically done away with the old fangled hot plates and pot setup, and have moved on to a more refined AIO unit. It even makes espresso and some sort of whipped topping. I just ues it to make hot chocolate coffee in the morning :p

The thing cost $5,000 and we have 6 of them o_O

The office provides coffee...

For free

It provides cream

For free

It provides sugar

For free

FFS they even have cups if you can't manage to bring your own. But why is it universal behavior to leave an empty pot on hot burner? Jesus Christ, if you can't muster the effort to throw out the old coffee+filter, put in a new one, and HIT A BUTTON (yes, the machine has a water line), can you at least flip the goddam switch to turn the hot plate off so the pot doesn't get destroyed?

I guess not... like EVER.

AARRRGGGHHHH

this is exactly why i stalk the coffee pot, get one hot cup when its done, and never finish it--so im not obligated to do these other things that arent drinking the coffee.

/also, its like, folgers so i dont get it very often

They tried that here at work and it sucked. You ended up having 20+ people show up in the morning and everyone has to wait forever to get a cup of crappy coffee. One cup at a time. And nobody is going to start work without that first cup. Didn't take long for the bosses to get the old Bunn hooked back up again.

I used to complain about always having to replace the water jug on the dispenser. One coworker said it was hard for her to do. She's about 5ft and in her mid 40s. Another coworker said he has a bad back, and he threw out his back once doing it. He's actually younger than I am by about 10 years, but whatever. Now I just replace it and move on. I want water, and it only takes a few seconds.

Our office doesn't have coffee pots anymore. We have these machines that automatically makes fresh coffee when you hit a button. It has a couple different types of coffee drinks, including hot chocolate. It has its own water line, and there is a big dispenser full of beans on the top like a water dispenser. I think the office manager refills it, or the company we lease it from does it every week. You do see people waiting around for the coffee, but they are BSing with other people waiting so no one seems to complain about the wait.

Used to have that problem. I made everyone life miserable who touches the coffee pot by calling out the offenders, starting a mafia style coffee collection system, and random audits of the cleaning schedule. Now I get exclusive use of the coffee pot, nobody else will go near it.

Is this an attempt to discuss soda without derailing the thread into a soda vs. pop discussion or are you legitimately from 1955?

Hey...the company hired me to post on Twitter and Facebook, and to play Farmville games...NOT to make fucking coffee.

Find an empty pot? Make it yourself. :colbert:

When the pot is empty at home, I sure as hell don't do anything about it. That's what the wife is for. I still haven't figured out who my office wife is, but when I empty that pot, it is always refilled.
