i checked my config file for mp and they put multigpu to 1 when i had it on 0. i put it back to 0, hopefully it will help performance.

I never found any of those workarounds helped at all. As far as I'm concerned it's up to Treyarch to figure this crap out. We shouldn't need to spend hours on forums, and fiddling with INI files just to get the game to work properly.

Whats the best way to get the fps counter working. I turned it on in the config file, but it still does not show up.

Really? I used cg_drawfps and it works fine
Ditto /cg_drawfps 1 in console

Also...these patches...do they need to be downloaded manually? Or do they automatically download through STEAM? Blah at that last word.... :( It may be because I use 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate, but none of my games that I DOWNLOADED through STEAM work. The ones on disk that I installed, like Black Ops, and The Orange Box launch just fine, but this isn't the forum for that problem :)

It's sad that our biggest thread about Blk Ops is this one, whereas the Console forum has a 1300 post thread discussing the game instead. Do we even have one of those?

Yeah I was looking for one of those too.

I must be fairly lucky with performance apart from the occasional (infuriating) lag spike. Also, does anyone else find that the first minute of most rounds can be a lagfest?

Wow support on this game has been painful. Not only are things not getting fixed, they are actually getting worse in some cases. Not only has support been lacking, Treyarch is also doing a terrible job of communicating what is being worked on to the community, and the COD forums are almost as buggy as the game...

I've never had a problem. New patch fixed most of the lag I had on my laptop. I had little lag to begin with on my desktop. Just waiting on that spawn fix that the consoles got.

Do you guys who aren't having issue have separate sound cards, or are you using onboard? Some people on the COD forums seem to believe it's at least partly to do with that.

i have x-fi card and i stutter still. i thought they narrowed down the problem being constant uploading/downloading to the main servers.

The longer into the game the more I'm more impressed.
Video and audio (AC3 streaming via mobo's optilink output to my ss processor) are just as good as it gets.
Playing in s3d is adding another level that gives me a few goose bumps at times.
Best FPS War game yet I've ever played.

I honestly didn't like the amount of cut scenes - but the combat was typical COD which is always top notch. Just wish there was more playing vs watching in single player mode.

Along with the stutter, i've been noticing a few other "glitches"

one that happens quite often is at the main menu for the campaign. i'll click campaign and the resume campaign option is missing. go back to the main menu and back to campaign and now it's there.

The other one is while shooting at an enemy, my gun stops working. For nstance it will will shoot one round and then holding down or pressing the mouse button again doesn't do anything. this almost always happens when i'm close to an enemy. I believe this has only happened in the combat training mode (not in SP and I don't play MP online because the stutter is too bad).

I noticed the problem with the campaign menu as well, but it's not a big deal. As far as the guns 'jamming' I haven't experienced it myself, but it it widely reported on the COD forums.

The stutter has gotten a bit better since the beginning, but it's still there. I am missing a lot of kills/getting killed a lot because of it.

COD on pc is utter crap, cod4 was the last good one, W@W was garbage, MW2 was a polished turd and now it seems like black ops is a big flop with all those issues. I'm playing drama free on 360 but at the same time I am playing with crap graphics

MW2 was a pita with all the hackers, and the lack of dedicated servers, but at least it ran. I get the feeling that Treyarch knew about all the bugs in the PC release, but Activision wouldn't allow them to delay it. I would have rather the PC version been delayed 3 months than been released in it's current condition.

I still can't play the game without massive lag. Product support also hasn't responded to my support ticket in over 2 weeks.

Some guy on blackopsforum.com found that by lowering blackops.exe to low or lowest priority stops the studder.

It worked for me when nothing else did, give it a try.

win7x64, core2duo 3.33, 5770.

How do you change the priority without minimizing? I can't ever bring it back up once I do that.

Edit: I just turned off fullscreen and then flipped it back on. Gameplay doesn't seem any better on below normal or low priority.

The only issue I've been having with Black Ops multiplayer is that my game will freeze for about 10-15 seconds every once in a while. I almost always get killed when this happens. I did edit my config_mp and lower a few graphical settings in-game, but it still locks up. I'm not sure if this still helps at all anymore, but I set my steam.exe priority to low and blackopsmp.exe priority to high.

Yesterday I hopped into a free for all game and I had terrible lag/stutter. I restarted the game and it was fine after that except for the lock ups.

Worst problems I had with single player was the cut-scenes were stuttering, but the patch mostly fixed that. Then there was the time I was playing through the campaign on Veteran, got all the way to near the end of the Rebirth mission and had an error which reset my campaign progress. It sent me all the way back to the SOG mission. Luckily I still had my save game files and was able to edit my config to get back to the Rebirth mission, but I had to start over from the beginning of the mission when I had almost beat it.

I have an Intel e8400 @ 3.6 GHz, an EVGA GTX470 SC+, 4GB DDR2 800, X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS sound card on Windows 7 64-bit.

guys, try setting priority in task manager for blackops to below normal. i think it helps the stuttering. low doesn't help, but below normal instead of normal is the sweet spot for me.

I have no issues, except for very occasional mini freezes, I think due to network/servers/steam. System in sig.
