You must live in a large city or something. Around here, the starter package is usually 1.5Mbit or 2Mbit, and the highest that you can get is 20Mbit.

That's good to hear. I just pulled the trigger and bought it, so hopefully my 20Mbit connection will help the game run smoothly for me also.

I have a 20Meg comcast connection and I am still getting stuttering in SP and MP. My CPU is pegged an my GPU works under 50%.

I really hope this fixes your issues. Unfortunately I am still convinced this is a coding issue with CPU/GPU usage and not a network problem.

I dont think this is the case..

my i7 is not even close to pegged running at less than 50% during MP
I dont understand why some people have issues and others dont..

Some of my friends who were having performance issues found that increasing detail levels and anti-aliasing as high as possible actually removed a lot of the stuttering. Try that out.

Weird, I just logged in to play today and the game seems choppier than it was before. The choppiness is more consistent -- it's present no matter what I'm doing -- but it's really annoying.

I've only played SP so far, and am currently heading up some hill in Vietnam. I haven't had a single stutter (so far?) or crash and I am running it pretty much maxed out on my lappy.

Performance is good but the linearity of this game blows.

Yea the game is completely linear. I remember when MoH came out and some guys were complaining that there were invulnerable targets that you couldnt kill so the story could go the way they wanted. I think BO had like 10 of those moments when I played.

Although, I still believe is one of the best stories for a CoD game so far even though the levels could be meh. Especially the chopper level. The controls are retarded.

should i pick this game up? or wait for the patches

I would wait. The last patch improved it a lot for me, but other people are saying it's just as bad or even worse. If you haven't put your money into the game already I would wait on another patch at least.

thanks for convincing me, i was planning on waiting for another patch. it will make my gf happy since we don't have the money right now anyway.

might not be good enough. i have 3MB and it stutters. someone who said they had 8MB here said they don't stutter though.

however, i expect them to fix this issue soon.

I've had micro-stuttering during the campaign.

Intel Core i7-860
Corsair 4GB DDR3-1333
Palit GTX 460 1GB
OCZ Vertex 120GB
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I have Comcast and had stuttering a few days ago when I played, but I played at least an hours worth today with no stuttering.. or it was very subtle if anything.

How do you explain stuttering during SP on a 20meg comcast connection? I think it's silly to say that 100% of the stuttering is caused by net traffic and that it has nothing to do with specific hardware configurations.

uplink. what's your upload speeds on your cable? i know cable is good for downloading but sucks for uploading. if you read what i posted earlier, the guy who figured it out had like a 30MB uplink.

I've got 3 up and I've heard of people playing with no lag on similar connections.

3meg up would be enough to communicate with steam on SP so that doesn't explain my stuttering.

turning on vsync and disabling shadows seems to have helped a bit. not nearly as much stutter

Patch has definately made my laptop performance worse but my desktop better. I can barely even run it on low now on my desktop.

vsync on helped a bit, but it's still feel very choppy.
I'd wait for a proper patch and see how to goes.

I haven't had any stuttering problems but I do get an occasional lock up. I traced the problem to a crappy internet connection. Every time my connection would lose sync the game would freeze. This is in single player only. Other than that the game has run smoothly.

Been playing a while now and no real problems with stuttering or lock ups on my 20Mbit connection. I was having issues with the server browser loading. I bypassed my router and it fixed the issue, so I decided to buy a second network card and use it to share my connection to the router so I can still have wireless internet. I now have no issues with the server browser loading. I get 4k+ servers in ~15 seconds; I would have 500 if I was lucky going through the router in that amount of time.

The main reason I decided to bypass the router was because I was having similar issues with the COD4 server browser, even with all of the ports forwarded. I read up on it and it seemed to be an issue with the router being overwhelmed with too much information and locking up temporarily. I fixed the problem at the time by installing DD-WRT on my router, but it's been acing up lately.

After the patch and updating graphics drivers, there's virtually no stuttering anymore on a 20mb connection. It's a really fun game when it's not stuttering.

i'm having issues where i try to join a game from the server browser and nothing happens. doesn't even try to connect, no errors, etc.

just have to go down the list until i find one that works.
