I didnt come in here to brag.. Sorry if it sounds that way. It just seems like EVERYONE online is bitching about performance. Yet, if you talk to people in game most people seem to have no problem..

Likely because people who have issues like me aren't playing it.

I've got an i7 920 with a 4870x2 and 12GB of memory. I had to put every graphics option down to the lowest and lower the resolution to 1680x1050 for it to be playable.

uhm... everyone who's talking about their hardware and their graphic settings... the stuttering has nothing to do with those things, it's due to NETWORK issues.

read what i quoted from last page...

apparently you need a super awesome connection to enjoy it without the stuttering.

Yeah, the SP seems to work well. I'm kind of amazed that they didn't know about these issues before launch.

In case people havent already tried it, opening/forwarding the specific ports on your router can drastically help reduce any netlag you're getting

they couldn't have known because their connection is to themselves, meaning they wouldn't experience the network issues that we would experience.

This is why someone invented beta testing.

Do you have any issues? 20Mbit is above average. I'd say the average is probably only 5Mbit.

i'm sure avg isn't even 5MB. a lot of people have basic DSL which is 768k i think. i only have 3MB.
i don't think 3MB connection is that slow, and it should be more than enough for any kind of gaming out there.

around here 20 is the base package for Comcast..
they are offering 50 and 100 above it.

and no I'm not having any issues at all. very smooth on my rig and connection.

It has nothing to do with your hardware. Please stop posting bogus "fixes." Treyarch and GameServers need to find a fix ASAP, it is killing an otherwise fun game.

You're telling me that they didn't beta test home users? Especially with the lag issues that FPS games can have, it's silly not to test radically different connections.

You must live in a large city or something. Around here, the starter package is usually 1.5Mbit or 2Mbit, and the highest that you can get is 20Mbit.

That's good to hear. I just pulled the trigger and bought it, so hopefully my 20Mbit connection will help the game run smoothly for me also.

Wow the campaign is pretty fucking epic. Blows MW2 away (although thats not saying much). Its short, like 6 hours but the story is pretty good for a CoD game.

2MB sounds like DSL, in which case you should have a consistent 2MB down...etc. I have the basic 25MB Cable internet but that's only during non-peak hours, from 6-9:30pm on a weeknight it's dreadfully slow, I'd bet I'm lucky to be getting .750MB/s. Frustrating.

tried to play MP again today and literally every time an enemy would show up on screen i would start to stutter and I would die. I've tried all the stupid fixes posted around the net. Hell, in SP i'm getting around 60-70 FPS until it stutters then it drops down to as much as 25...

first map I tried I went 1/9 and the second map it just kept doing, actually getting worse so i said fuck it and quit. SP still stutters a lot too. I'm done playing both SP and MP until they decide to fix the damn game.

Come on Treyarch, post a patch that actually does something!

I'm not really having the lag problems like the video in the OP. I get a little stutter every now and then, but hardly enough to notice. It did a complete stop for like 3 seconds on me once out of like 10 games so far.

I actually found out it runs better if I turn off everything on my network. I think it's opening a ton of connections and when it fails to get enough of them it pukes and stutters.

Something is definitely diffrerent. It's still a little laggy, but not anywhere near as bad as it was. I can even play with ultra textures now. I was using low.

It's sad that our biggest thread about Blk Ops is this one, whereas the Console forum has a 1300 post thread discussing the game instead. Do we even have one of those?

We tend to be much more bitchy by nature so most of our long threads are complaints and technical problems. When a game goes well we spend too much time playing and enjoying ourselves to post about it here.

As an example, Starcraft 2. Theres some minor gripes about the ladder system but for the most part people are loving it so much they cant make time to visit the official thread. It gets the most posts when BattleNet is down for maintenance, and most of those posts are complaints that you NEED BattleNet running for single player.

I've only played SP so far, and am currently heading up some hill in Vietnam. I haven't had a single stutter (so far?) or crash and I am running it pretty much maxed out on my lappy.

Performance is good but the linearity of this game blows.

Played yesterday and the stuttering seems to be almost gone. Running the game maxed at 1080p and 16xaa and the stuttering isn't really an issue anymore. The game is really fun when the stuttering doesn't keep you from getting kills. Personally, I think the graphics are pretty good, but there are certainly better looking games, such as Bad Company 2.
