I saw Scott Brown in an interview on TV last evening. He seems rational, but he spent an inordinate amount of time harping on how independent he was from the Republican Party. Guess he has to, to win in such a blue state.

With Democrats holding a 3 -1 registration advantage in Mass, it certainly would be a stunning win if he overcomes those odds.

Of course the Democrat machine in Mass and the Senate will hold off swearing in Brown (if he wins) for almost a month. They claim its due to wanting spend time to count all the votes first (yea, when have Dems ever been interested in counting ALL the votes).

When Nikki Tsongas won a special election for a house seat 2 years ago in Mass, she was sworn in 2 days after the election....just in time to put in a vote to override a Bush veto.

Its interesting, a few months ago you wouldn't have seen a Scott Brown sign anywhere, and that annoying Cockley was everywhere...

Now brown signs are pretty common, at least up by where I am...hopefully he can pull it off, I know he is getting my vote but as others have said the dem machine is pretty entrenched here with the unions and what not making it a tough nut to crack.

Its still difficult to believe that Brown can pull it off, if nothing else he has a tea bagger nut case that will split the Republican vote. So we must somewhat ask that other question, will the GOP become national hero's or goats by becoming champions of gridlock?

I somewhat doubt that question will be answered in blue State Massachusetts, but given the fact that the Senate is dominated by old fossils, there is a good chance that question will be posed again when some other senator dies or becomes disabled before the general election of 11/2010.

But given the lack of lock step organization of the democrats, does a 60 seat majority really matter?

In my minuscule mind, it may boil down to the voter's perception of health care reform
as it passes from various House Senate conference committees and soon becomes the law of the land well before the elections of 11/2010. And if the American public sees immediate benefits, the GOP may well become national toast come 11/2010.

there's nothing Democratic about Obamacare - forcing people who were satisfied to pay cash for their health care, to buy health insurance - when they get better care paying cash ?

like Harry Reid admitted, Obama-care is a HUUUUGE gift to the health insurance & pharma. companies. the same companies that created the ridiculous system (described in Michael Moore's movie Sicko) in the first place.

Obama doesn't even have the guts to admit that in the not too distant past, America had good health care. the only thing is, doctors made less money, there were no health insurance companies, and pharma companies were a fraction of the size they are today. but it was affordable for working people.

i agree enough to vote AGAINST Dems who voted for Obamacare, in the 2010, 2012, & 2014 elections.

I think my favorite part was his piece on gun control. He doesn't want guns personally, but that doesn't cause him to want to take away everyone else's rights. The willingness to go against his own personal preferences in exchange for public liberties is so refreshing. And with a CS degree, he'll know more about computers than everyone else in Congress combined.

The thing that shocked me was that he's a 'Tea Party' candidate, but his views are probably anathema to most of the bandwagoners who hopped on that confused movement in pure opposition to Obama and the Dems. Reading his views, he's utterly opposed to pretty much the entire GOP status quo as well (41% increased gov't spending under Bush, massive foreign policy entanglements, nanny state regarding Marijuana, lax border control, etc).
