CNN Worst Month In Decade - Americans mostly watching Fox News

Most CNN shows are boring but from my experience they have the best election coverage by far and are the most center. They lean left but not anywhere near MSNBC, NBC, etc. I have 4 tv's each with MSNBC, Fox, CNN and BBC where I work so I pretty much watch them all day in and day out.

I dont like FOX or CNN. They all look like yuppie drugged out big-city blowhards. I have better things to do than to be brainwashed by a TV.

I watch mostly Korean TV SHOWS. Nothing in the USA is worth watching.

Deeko, that is not it.

They want to see a fight and hear someone insult someone else more than anything.

Out of all the networks, Fox has the most outright insulting programs on the air.

Why do people still listen to drugged-out fatty Limbaugh? It sure as hell isn't for his actual knowledge of things. They want to be mad, or laugh at someone elses mistakes.

Just like the majority of people find it funny to see a guy get whacked in the balls (for whatever reason), they will watch Fox to be entertained in the name of "news".

Evidence enough that you've never listened to him.

I guess Americans only watch WWE.

In reality more people get their news from network news (even those with cable). Watching any of the cable news shows for 5 minutes show they aren't news, they are opinion.

Daily Show at 11pm typically pulls in between 1.6 - 1.7 viewers. That means he's beating the 11pm O'Reilly by a fair margin. He provides just as much "News" as the rest of those cable news shows.

At least Jon Stewart admits he hosts a fake news show. I watch The Daily Show when I can because it's funny, same with Colbert. If a story one of them talks about is interesting enough I'll look up more.

(Thanks, Algore!)

Vin Cerf agrees with you....

While Al Gore never did research or come up with the ideas for it. He saw realized a lot of it's potential when he saw / heard about it.

Al Gore had seen what happened with the National Interstate and Defense Highways Act of 1956, which his father introduced as a military bill. It was very powerful. Housing went up, suburban boom happened, everybody became mobile. Al was attuned to the power of networking much more than any of his elective colleagues. His initiatives led directly to the commercialization of the Internet. So he really does deserve credit.

Of course Al Gore is pretty clueless about public speaking (relations) at least compared to Bill Clinton, so when he tried to mention that he did help the internet go from a research project to a commercialized network that people could access more easily it got turned into

"I invented the internet... no I really did" ~Al Gore

by brainless talking wonders.

At least his contributions to toward making it available to the public faster than it might have been without his efforts are recognized by more tech minded people...

By the way, to keep these numbers in perspective, the top-rated pseudo news show on Fox is still dwarfed by network news. Here are a few key stats for the week of 4/23:

60 Minutes - 10 million viewers (off night, their average is 13.3 million)
NBC news - 8.2 million
ABC news - 7.3 million
CBS news - 5.8 million

americans are watching regular network news in greater numbers than fox. so, is dave's thread title grossly misleading? i'm shocked!

David - you need to learn new words besides "only" "never" and "ever" try "predominantly" or if that's too hard "mostly."

Americans are predominantly watching Fox News.

My son watches k-pop. Quite interesting I must say.😛

From the looks of the numbers Americans do not even watch TV much anymore. That's what? 10%? Sounds like a few old boomers left watching the cold war idiot box.

Now the question is, why do people who still use a tv and adapt cultural cues from it still consider themselves "mainstream society"?

How arrogant that anyone on TV says they are "real Americans". Hardly.

Just the passing of a thoroughly brainwashed generation still sucking off their nannies tit that raised them.

Driving down the road at night just about every house I see has the flicker of a TV going on.
Quick search in Google

Percentage of households that possess at least one television: 99
Number of TV sets in the average U.S. household: 2.24
Percentage of U.S. homes with three or more TV sets: 66
Number of hours per day that TV is on in an average U.S. home: 6 hours, 47 minutes
Percentage of Americans that regularly watch television while eating dinner: 66
Number of hours of TV watched annually by Americans: 250 billion
Value of that time assuming an average wage of S5/hour: S1.25 trillion
Percentage of Americans who pay for cable TV: 56
Number of videos rented daily in the U.S.: 6 million
Number of public library items checked out daily: 3 million
Percentage of Americans who say they watch too much TV: 49

Possibly this is a sign that Liberals or the left, don't all get their information from "MSM" like CNN or MSNBC. So when people say that MSNBC and CNN are just like Fox, you might wonder why Fox is still so popular with the Right/Conservatives and the inverse is not true.

It would be interesting to see the age demographic of FOX viewers. I bet they are older Broadcast TV watchers. I.E. no internet sources of information or cable for that matter.

I ain't no spring chicken either but I'm hep.

You know, I never for a minute doubted that you agreed with Vin Cerf about Algore. And since you believe he "took the initiative in creating the Internet", you no doubt believe that "Earth in the Balance" is good science, that he's the inspiration for Love Story, and that he only buys property near the beach to protect poor people from losing their multi-million dollar home when the ocean inevitably rises to consume it. Swell guy, that Al. Even when he's flying around the world in his private jet, it's only to have a little quiet time to figure out how to get people to give up their private cars.

Fox = right
CNN= middle/left
MSNBC= far left.

CNN middle of the road on everything is fail.

with fox the daytime is pretty neutral its at night when the loons come out. O'Riley, Hannity and gr Greta.

MSNBC the loons are on all the time.

60 Minutes - 10 million viewers (off night, their average is 13.3 million)

this surprises me because i normally dont get home from work to watch network eveing news and neither do my neighbors.

Yep and I have been watching RT some as well. Some of the Moscow based shows have a political slant but some are produced here and cover local topics. They have some good stories and most importantly offer differening opinions. Al Jazeera English has some good stories as well.

30. Erin Burnett MSNBC -- 412,000 total viewers. I don't care for her, she seems to be under the impression (like many) that folks care what she thinks. She belongs on the fox network.

28. John King USA CNN -- 435,000 total viewers
Solid reporter and not afraid to ask difficult questions. Sometimes he appears quirky and I guess that puts off the folks who like the flashy newscasters. Best newscaster CNN has IMO

I like Erin when she was on CNBC's Squawk on the Street. Didn't realize she migrated over to MSNBC.

I think you can learn all you need to know about the public's preference for "news" when the top two shows on the list, by a rather decent margin, aren't even remotely news. If the goal of any real news program is to win viewers, they should take a hard look at just who they're sharing the podium with.

I do find it interesting though that conservative alternatives to actual news pretty consistently do better than the liberal variety (at least on the radio and TV). Either there are more conservative TV viewers and radio listeners, the conservative programs are of higher quality, or that sort of thing appeals more to conservatives than liberals. It's certainly a significant difference though.

Limbaugh has a show on Fox?

Yea, surfing the net, and watching shows on your phone is much more righteous 🙄
