I would suggest that her delay in releasing such information is cause enough to fuel such speculation.
My point is quite simply that I do not trust the Clintons...I doubt very highly there is a donation to the KKK, but it will be interesting to see who is filling their coffers.

Due to legal fees, the Clintons were in deep debt after Mr Clinton left office. They worked hard to give themselves the quality of life they wanted.
Looking at the numbers in the OP, the Clntons paid their taxes and donated around 10% of their income to charity.

Where does I am surprised they released it so early come from? The Clinton tax return was almost certainly put together by accounts and not the Clinton's, they beat the deadline by only 10 days, and I hardly think they rushed to file early to get the $600 per person big tax rebate.
Lots of ways to get political spin mileage out of what is known so far and for both sides, but in terms of contesting the facts, that is going to take much more number crunching and vetting facts to make into a credible case. This is just the feeble efforts before the storm that may be coming later. And will probably center on what is declarable income.
Nor can the Friday release date have much effect when the battle grounds will be Hillary primary votes still way over two weeks away. Then there is the other issue, this is supposed to be between God and the IRS. And if the GWB administration or the IRS goes leaking details to anyone, there may be hell to pay questions on who leaked?

I also have to love the line in the blog. There is 18 million missing but the 18 million is accounted for in the their return or words to that effect.
18 million missing is shocking but suddenly its not missing because its accounted for. Which means there was no missing 18 million in the first place is the way I have to read it.

Damn that Ken Starr, he must've been paid off by the Clintons to not find any evidence.
There is nothing unaccounted for. Some things are not included in the summary but everything is accounted for in the returns. Most of the $18M, not shown in the summary, looks like fairly run-of-the-mill investment income.
The charitable contributions went to the Clinton Foundation which is involved in things like Disaster relief (tsunami, Katrina), HIV/AIDS treatment/prevention, Energy and Climate Change, Global Health, Poverty Alleviation, Education....

The AP story you heard didn't mention the 18 mil unaccounted for because there is nothing that is unaccounted for. The reporter is not hiding anything from you. There just isn't a story to tell. All of the income is accounted for in the tax returns.
Aside from the IRS, there are millions of news researchers, amateur accountants, and just plain Clinton haters going over those forms with a fine tooth comb right now. They may be able to spin some kind of story out of them but this one ain't it.

If you're referring to me, I'm a tax CPA and know something about the matter.
Among other things, I understand that they are partners in one or more partnerships. These are often put on an extension, and their filing deadline is not until 4/15. Most partners end up on extension.

I hope this wasn't a serious response to my question though, because I really want to know where those 18 Billion come from or went and why the story even came up to begin with.

But that's precisely what a Private Foundation is, and why they have special rules in the tax code.
I think the private foundation should be scruntinized, as I think all of them should be. There's far too much opportunity for shenanigans.
I'd like to see where the money went.
(The reason they gave more in charitable contributions during low income years, and less in high income years, was to maximize the tax effect of the donation. In higher income years your phase-out of itemized deductions is greater - meaning less tax benefits. But there's nothing wrong with that.)
