I have to take sleeping pills to go to sleep every night (I'll lie awake for hours.) And I hate to get up in the morning because I know it'll be the same thing over again. The dull pain in the back of my head that seems to flow forth cynicism and negativity into my life.

I sat and talked with a friend for hours tonight, about him getting played by his ex-boyfriend. He was crying and sad over it. And I was there for him. But I came home and I realized that seeing someone feel something, even pain, makes me wish I could feel anything. My feelings never get hurt. I feel so detatched from the world, so indifferent to everything.

I also realized that I can't really remember what if feels like to be happy. I mean, really happy, not a fleeting moment of enjoyment or laughter. It's been years since I've been happy.

And presently I'm at a loss for words.

I'm the exact same way have been for the past 6 or 7 years. Plus I don't have insurance either. The place I live is so fvcking ridiulous it just makes the depression worse. 🙁

My depression years is a long story though.

Marijuana is my suggestion. 🙂

eh...i wouldnt sugggest this to everyone...
pot can make you feel better but it isnt a fix for good...
you might grow dependent on it to feel normal or happy. (not a bad thing)

hope you can find a reason to live in your life...such as help others? go out and volunteer?

Study after study have shown that people who have religious faith are more mentally healthy than people without faith.

Dependent? Maybe to some, but not me. I only smoked for about 1 month, and I stopped. Been 1 year since, and depression has never came back. I am the happy ol' person I used to be, but even better. I even concentrate a lot better than I used to.

There tons of confounding factors. I think going to church and interacting with people and having a solid community for support is what helps people maintain healthy lifestyles. Personaly, the religion itself and "god" has nothing to do with it.

Wow, our all-knowing, all-seeing creator sure seems to have a complex, doesn't he? He created people just so they can worship him? Man, I've met some pathetic people that need constant validation but this takes it to a whole new level.

I see that you get your talking points from the secularists:

However, the National Secular Society dismissed the idea that prayer helps mental health as "absolute rubbish".

It said research also showed bingo helped mental health.

"It is nothing to do with prayer," said a spokesman. "It is to do with community and togetherness."

Praying 'aids mental health'

"They found that personal prayer was much more likely to have a positive effect than going to church for social reasons."

I think personal "prayer" allows someone to reflect on their life and address the issues that bother them in a constructive manner rather than repress said emotions. This is why going to a therapist and addressing the issues in your life is benefitial. In addition, people feel like praying offers some kind of hope that the problem can be fixed, whether this is a placebo effect or it really is divine intervention has yet to be proven, and likely never will. this is just my secular interpretation of it.

A) I'm just not feeling great. That doesn't mean that I'm going to start believing in a magical sky being that knows and sees all. I'd rather be unhappy than delusional.
B) If there's a God, he's well outside the reaches of my forgiveness.

go see a doc. i have been depressed for well over 15 years, and thought it was normal to feel like a shitbag every single day.

go see a doctor now.

Not trolling. Like us (his image) he has free will yet chooses to make a soap opera out of the human existance.

Yes. Was on Paxil for a while and that seemed to help a little. I know at least one other person who's life was essentially saved by Paxil. As others have said though go see your doctor first. Counselling also works for many. Also about the meds don't give up if the first type you try doesn't work, a lot of people try 1/2 a dozen different ones before they find one that works for them. Good luck I know what it's like to be down for many years! Depression have completely wrecked havoc with my education despite being a good student when I'm up 🙁 Also don't listen to those who tell you to exercise, have a bath, take a holiday etc, if those things can help you are NOT suffering from depression!! I'm not ratting on those who are offering those fixes it's just that they have never suffered real depression and honestly don't know what they are talking about even if they mean well.

I'm not sure if that's what he means or not.

If so, the apostle Paul wasn't such a great guy before his conversion.

Peter denied Christ 3x.

Like the bible says:

And as Jesus went from there, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said to him, "Follow me." And he arose, and followed him. And it happened that as Jesus sat eating in the house, behold, many tax-gatherers and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why does your Master eat with tax-gatherers and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said to them, "Those who are whole do not need a doctor, those who are sick do. But go and learn what this means - I will have mercy and not sacrifice; for I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
