Climate Research Unit hacked, damning evidence of data manipulation

When every 'solution' to Global Warming seems to involve transferring wealth from one group and giving it to another - I certainly have every right to question the motives of the people making the claim.

Even IF we are truly killing the planet, and its death is going to happen shortly, the left is causing more harm than good by attemping to treat GW as an excuse to transfer wealth.

Where do you get from the alleged misconduct of a handful of scientists to "the whole thing has been a ruse?" Are you really this stupid?

This is IGBT you are talking about here in regards to GW, I think the answer is perfectly clear. Yes.

happy festivus!

lollllllll.

You, like Patranus, obviously revel in your ignorance. Only people like you and Patranus think that "getting the data right" (meaning removing measurement errors) means fudging data to fake a trend.

I give up dealing with cretins like your kind. You can't even understand what's right in front of your face.

There's no stoppin' the cretins from hoppin'
You gotta keep it beatin'
For all the hoppin' cretins.

Does "sightless and retarded" come to anyone's mind when reading the posts of the climate-deniers?

Only your posts.

I am pretty sure no one is denying that climates change. There was an ice age and now there isn't...wow...climate change...

guess what...
...the climate is ALWAYS changing.

The discussion is over the impact (if any) man has on this.

Shhhh... the "believers" can't stand heretical talk like that. They expect a BHO deep bow towards their mecca.

Looks like a hacker or an inside job got 60 MB of data with e-mails, files, what not at the CRU. They then posted it on a FTP server. Now millions have it and are going over it. And these E-mails show that they purposefully changed or manipulated data to show a warming trend, when the data actually said the opposite.

This could be the final blow to global warming and expose it for a political agenda rather than science.

I took the time to read the ambiguous article, it's 160MB of date not 60 and could not find the article your quote was from(contex), so your "smoking gun" looks more like one carved from a bar of soap.

I did read all the 200+ posts.

Original climate data dumped, only the massaged data remains. This should make things interesting as it does make it difficult if not impossible to verify and reproduce results.

Haven't you heard? Man made Climate change is an undeniable truth. The debate is over. The data that can prove this should be available with any of the other climate scientists that concur with the theory, right????

Alter the original data and dump it...sweeeet! 'Science' just ain't what it used to be.

Edit - Article below with salient points bolded.

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.

The data were gathered from weather stations around the world and then adjusted to take account of variables in the way they were collected. The revised figures were kept, but the originals — stored on paper and magnetic tape — were dumped to save space when the CRU moved to a new building.

The admission follows the leaking of a thousand private emails sent and received by Professor Phil Jones, the CRU’s director. In them he discusses thwarting climate sceptics seeking access to such data.

In a statement on its website, the CRU said: “We do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (quality controlled and homogenised) data.”

The CRU is the world’s leading centre for reconstructing past climate and temperatures. Climate change sceptics have long been keen to examine exactly how its data were compiled. That is now impossible.

Roger Pielke, professor of environmental studies at Colorado University, discovered data had been lost when he asked for original records. “The CRU is basically saying, ‘Trust us’. So much for settling questions and resolving debates with science,” he said.

Jones was not in charge of the CRU when the data were thrown away in the 1980s, a time when climate change was seen as a less pressing issue. The lost material was used to build the databases that have been his life’s work, showing how the world has warmed by 0.8C over the past 157 years.
He and his colleagues say this temperature rise is “unequivocally” linked to greenhouse gas emissions generated by humans. Their findings are one of the main pieces of evidence used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which says global warming is a threat to humanity.

Oh...the irony.

Oh...the irony.

You are not an Enlightened True Believer, infidel! Undeniable truth! Man-made crisis! Imminent catastrophe! Doom and gloom! 45 days to act or all is lost!

BTW, weren't we all supposed to be dead like 30 years ago, what with the "global cooling" and "Ice Age" propaganda of the 70's?

Is it really any surprise that Algore and his "scientists" have been cooking the data to fit their personal agendas? After all, imagine all the power and wealth that could come to someone who could remake entire countries and economies under the banner of Mother Earth. Who can say no to Algore, chosen herald of Gaia? Do you not love the planet on which you reside?! How dare any question the "undeniable truths" of the Chosen One?!

Rush played his debate with Algore from 1992 last Wednesday, and...surprise surprise! Algore says the same things today that he said back then, but, shock of all shocks!, none of the doom and gloom that the man-made climate change zealots had ominously predicted has ever come true!

And yet we are the ones who can't "understand what's right in front of our face". And now ClimateGate has come to light. Oh, delicious irony...it's Scramble and Deflect Time (TM), big time, for the Church of Man-Made Climate Change.

Reading the posts of Patranus, Doc Savage Fan, CadSortaGuy, Ozoned, Charrison, Boomerang, and the rest is like watching a daisy chain of mutual masturbators. More and more feverishly, they yank each others' conspiracy-theory wangs as they build to their climate-denial orgasms, sprinkling their adolescent loads over the imagined corpse of climate science.

Somehow, though, the field of climatology isn't getting the message. The same old reports of climate damage continue to be released. The same old linkages between mankind's activities and global warming continue to be made. The Copenhagen Conference is proceeding full speed ahead.

Somehow, no one but the climate deniers is treating email-gate as more than the insignificant incident that it actually is. Maybe they need another circle jerk. Yeah, that's the ticket: Copenhagen Climate-Denial Circle-Jerk 2009.

I particularly liked the emails about who could be 'trusted' or not. Shira...there was obvious collusion to thwart anyone who had the audacity to ask questions. Everything was kept hidden with accessibility to extremely important information limited to an inner circle. This may not seem important to you for reasons I don't understand...but it reeks to high heaven for others. I suggest that you think twice if this is your idea of good science.

undeniable proof that liberalism is nothing more then a series of myths and lies designed to promote its political and social agenda.

What the fuck is wrong with trying to respect the environment that created and feeds us and our future?

I find it is mostly capitalism at all cost Republicans who deny man made climatological disturbance and LOVE to see corporations keep making money and dumping sewage and chemicals and such in our habitat.

Why is hate for the earth and hate for average people a Republican thing 🙁
