Shave straight down right after you get out of the shower. Don't shave against the grain.

Also, this shaving gel all but cured my razor burn issues:

Be a man and use a straight razor. Alternatively, just use a beard trimmer to get down to a nice stubble every morning. The women will love it.

Where the hell is your epic 10 year beard pic, anyway? Are you shaving after dropping presents down all the chimneys this year?

Edwin Jagger DE Razor
Find a blade you like (i like a few ie, shark, Gillette platinum, etc)
Find some soap or cream you like. Can start with C.O. Bigelow or something.
By a cheap brush, badger or boar will be fine at first.

Give yourself a real shave. Why rush to save 5 minutes. Your face isn't worth 5 minutes?

Take care of your body, the rest will fall in place.

I use a merkur short handle de blade. just started this year and so much better than mach 3 I've been using all myt life
feather blades are what I use too. infinitely cheaper than fusion blades as well

Despite this being a necro, I will contribute. I have tried all the major brands and eventually settled on Braun, cuz it burns the least and also doesn't have that long "adjustment" period all the others do.

Forget electric shavers. Period.

Try real thing and call it a day.

Don't skimp on good soap and razors.

This is what I use, along with "Taylor of Old Bond Street Jermyn Street Luxury Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin" and it works much better than any disposable razor.

Just got done shaving with my electric, less than 2 minutes and as smooth as any straight edge could get my face in a fraction of the time with no burn. Don't listen to the haters, get a Panasonic or Braun foil.

Be a real man and grow the beard back.

If you really want to be a woman and shave your beard off, then I agree with some here, that electric is the devil. Years back before the full beard when I was just at a goatee, I tried many different electrics. Nothing ever as good as a razor. Definitely always went with a Mach 3/Fusion type.

- I have thought about going clean shaven for a week or so just to see if anyone recognizes me or sometimes in the summer to cool off, but I can never bring myself to cut the beard off. Just can't do it. If I ever do, I will go with the real deal and use what bigi posted. a real razor with hot foam and a badger hair brush.

I would love to get something like this.

you get what you for. Personally I would go with the most expensive Panasonic you can afford. I have the 150 and it is ok but I wish I would have spent 300 and got the top of line razor. Disclaimer: I have very thick hair. I don't know anyone who can outpace my growth and fullness lol. The middle road razors don't have the cutting ability to tame my beard.

The $150 is great for getting the basic done. However I can't get safety razor close. I use an old world war 1/2 gillete open shaver and sensitive skin shaving gel. Very cheap and just as effective as fusion if not better. It gives you a mad men look to your shave if that makes any sense.

I only use electric during tax season when I am just too tired to focus on my morning routine.

I went with an electric about 2 months ago. It's love/hate for me. When I'm running late, I'll use the electric. When I really need to get a smooth surface, like for a wedding or an event, I'll use the Mach 3 or whatever it's called. For my electric, I got this:

http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/ES-RF31-S

On clearance at target for $49.99. I'm not sure why it was on clearance, box didn't look opened or anything, but it was a steal. One thing for sure, since switching to electric, I feel like I need to shave more frequently. Like every other day, whereas with a razor, I could get by with at lease 3 days without looking too scraggly. I wish I could grow a beard. My facial hair is patchy and looks retarted. I can't even grow a goatee right. It'd take years for everything to even out.

Philips Norelco Sensotouch 3D with RQ12 heads. I wet shave with it (Gilette gel foam) and it works amazingly. I have tough african american hair and the skin sensitivity of a red head, I burn easily and horribly. This is the only combo I never have had any issues daily shaving with. But the wet part and not going against the grain is extremely important. I change the heads every 5-6 months, you can definitely tell when they are getting dull.

I was given a Braun 790cc, it's pretty nice. Self cleans, dries and lubricates. And has adjustable settings for closeness.

I use the Merkur long handle + Derby blade + Prorasso Soap

I like using a Mach 3, but it's annoying have to lather up. With an electric, all I have to do is turn the thing on and run it over my face in front of the computer. However, my new and old rotary Philips Norelcos suck. If I don't shave daily, it gets long enough to guarantee pulling. Even daily shaving ends up with pulling if I go too fast or approach at the wrong angle. I'll have to look into the Braun series.

i use this:

Remington microscreen (ms2 200)

i've used it every other day for years.
still on original foil and blade 😱

Used many premium razors over the years, Braun, Panasonic wet/dry and so forth but always come back to the Remingtons.
I also have the above model and like it but I liked its square predecessor that obviously you cant find anymore even better.

Been using electric since the late 80s, before that I used a straight razor, brush and soap or if I was in a hurry, a Shick Injector. Try finding one of those and the blades, best razor ever after the straight.

yes, safety razors are very good.

the best shave you will ever have is from straight razors. Unfortunately, that takes skill to learn to use it properly, but nothing else comes close.

Another Merkur fanboi myself, use the long handled razor + those Personna blades.

I can shave faster with a razor than any electric shaver I've ever had. A razor only takes a few minutes from start to finish.

+ what DE number we are up to 🙂
