Clean Shaven People - Recommend an Electric Shaver

For father's day I just got a Norelco electric (3 head with a pivot) that has an automatic cleaning system, and since then my neck has not had rashes on it. The shaver allows for using shaving cream, and I think that as well using the cleaning solution once a week keeps it from iritating my skin. I don't remember the model number off the top of my head, but will post it later.

I've given up on electric. I've tried many including the expensive ones and they just flat don't work for me. To get a decent shave with them it takes more time than the old fashioned way. About a month ago I changed from Fusions to the Hydro 5 and am very happy with it. Shaves better and the blades are cheaper.

I'm curious to know of decent electric razors too, I think it's time I upgrade mine. It does not go very well especially in the neck. Once you go electric, you never go back. Shave in 3 minutes vs 15 minutes FTW.

so, you claim electric as superior, but also state that it does a poor job in shaving.

🙄

15 minutes? Really? I've been shaving with a gillette fusion in the shower for 12+ years, takes 2 mins tops.

Forget electric shavers. Period.

Try real thing and call it a day.

Don't skimp on good soap and razors.

me: agrees, and also would say that the cheap and frankly incredible gillette fusion is plenty. if you haven't shaved in 10 years you will be properly amazed. the things you can do with this razor, would have ripped your face away 10 years ago. really, try it.

Would appreciate it. Sounds nice.

I use/used some cheap brawn 3 head one. Didn't get close, but it didn't irritate the hell out of me either. I could take a 5 blade razor shave eight directions in a hot shower till I was smooth and I'd still have a 5 o'clock shadow from under my skin that would put most men to shame though so I never really cared to put too much effort into it. I've gotten laser hair removal since then and now I don't even need to shave every day so it's coming along nicely ^.^

Edwin Jagger DE Razor
Find a blade you like (i like a few ie, shark, Gillette platinum, etc)
Find some soap or cream you like. Can start with C.O. Bigelow or something.
By a cheap brush, badger or boar will be fine at first.

Give yourself a real shave. Why rush to save 5 minutes. Your face isn't worth 5 minutes?

Take care of your body, the rest will fall in place.

15 mins to shave??? You're doing it wrong....only women are supposed to shave their legs.

I am one hairy dude with sensitive skin. I have been using Braun razors for many years. My last one cost about $200.

I spend a little time with it (I read my morning e-mail and online news while I shave) and I get smooth as a baby's bottom.

YMMV.

After 10+ years of owning a beard (well maybe the first 4 years were only something close to beard), I am now joining the hallowed ranks of the clean shaven.
Having never shaved daily ever, I need some advice.
I need an electric razor.
I have tried 3-4 personal razor in the past and I fucking hate them.

I get terrible razor burn on my neck.

Any shaving advice would be very appreciated.

i use this:

Remington microscreen (ms2 200)

i've used it every other day for years.
still on original foil and blade 😱

If you can ebay an original Norelco Spectra 8894XL, the one that 007 started to sell I think in 2009, I can tell you that this is an AMAZING piece of machinery. Later models were more made in china quality. I love mine to death. Tried a couple options a few times from costco but was left realising how amazing the 8894 was. Just ended up replacing the heads.

I have never seen an electric razor that could come even remotely close to what I would call a "clean shave." A single pass on any disposable/DE/cartridge razor with the grain has always been a closer shave for me.

This.

The disposables are faster too.

I abhor electric razors. The only thing that has ever given me a clean shave is a real razor. I prefer the Gillette fusions these days.

Get yourself a simple DE razor like this. Use barbasol shaving cream and get some good blades. I prefer these.

I've never used an electric that did anything other than give me a poor shave while burning my face up, especially my neck.

Anything Phillips Norelco I heard.

My first electric shaver, a Phillips, is still kicking after 10 years with the original blade... but my beard is still only developing.

It's hard to choose the right electric razor because I can't try it at the shop. But reading review can help, there are many type of the razors user review make me know how different and what suit for me.

I'm talking about regular razors. By the time you apply the shaving cream, wash up, etc... With electric you just go at it without any prep work or cleanup needed.

I ended up getting the Braun 7000 series, and it works great, even for the neck.

🙄🙄🙄 I never said electrics don't do a good job, just the particular one I had... Regardless it was still better than the long and tedious manual way.

Fed up with trying electric razors that didn't work well, especially ones that couldn't handle neck hairs, I sprung for the Panasonic LA63-S earlier this year.

Works great, even on the neck, and it cuts almost as close as my safety razor in a fraction of the time.

I've never used an electric shaver that I like. Not even a $200 Braun I got as a christmas gift.

They all pinch

They all pull

They all leave stubble
