Class of 2009... how's your job hunt looking?

I finally got some replies back... two companies sent out an email telling applicants how a position was canceled - both on hiring freeze. My dad's company is also on hiring freeze. So, the application just have to keep going out. There are postings for positions out in the middle of nowhere, but at this point I feel being selective about location just is not an option anymore.

So, how is everyone else doing. Really just looking for some hope here, because I'm starting to get a bit uneasy here, as I have NO IDEA what I will be doing in 2 months.

Grad school is really looking appealing at this point.

I started my job hunt as a sophomore, so I'm doing just fine (for now)

I was set to graduate in Fall, but things changed and I have to push it back.

I'm glad things changed. But I'm planning on a law degree anyway.

I'd have gone to grad school for sure had I known what was coming but too late now. As a liberal arts grad I've had 2 interviews, 1 for a valet and 1 for a law firm clerk. Did not get either. This week I have 1 at a law firm ($9/hr part time) and 1 at Home Depot. I'm hoping for Home Depot.. I put expected wage as $13 per hour so that would be sweet at least I could pay the bills and wait for this to blow over.

I'm a dec 08 grad

edit: i forgot I am technically employed as an investigator for a law firm but have only put in like 5 hours.. looks good for the resume though

Good to hear you are on top of things. Unfortunately my summer internships really did not spark too much interest as far as a definite career path, however last summer's research made grad school (and a new possible career path but in the same field) a serious option.

I kept leaning toward wanting a job full-time job after graduation with part-time grad school (I will be getting a Master's, one way or another), as I'm just tired of full-time school, but at this point... full-time school for another two years is looking better and better.

Slow. Graduating in May with MS in mathematics. I want to teach, but apparrently it takes more hoops to jump through to teach HS than at a university. Go figure.

Good luck guys, it's a savage time to enter the job market.

A bunch of law firms in England are giving this years intake £5k or £10k to defer for a year as their 4year contracts will end up costing the company £250k, and with the economy as it is, it's better to pay them the £5-10k to defer for a year then to have them bumming around for a year not doing much.

I almost have 10 years of experience in my field. I can bet that if I got laid off, I'd have a hell of a time landing a job.

Shitty as ever. Graduated last year, still temping, got 2 more weeks at my current place. Looking at getting licensed to treat water or your shit, slim chance of going to get my M.Eng.

no offers yet, but which one should I take once they start rolling in?

good idea, I think citigroup is my top choice. I believe their stock just broke one dollar!

I have a job but guess how I got it? hookup. Connections.

I'm paranoid every day of losing my job. It's cause I don't do anything. There is no work. I surf the net half the time with no supervision. Given it's a government job but having nothing to do you feel like you don't contribute nothing to the work place.
What scares me so much is if they did tell me to go home I'd be screwed. Job market just sucks. I'd probably join the air force. God I wish the economy wasn't so bad. I would love to know I could get up and go somewhere else so easily.

Anything health related. Physical Therapy in particular is white-hot right now, and will be for the next 30 years or so.

My roommate is graduating (BS) in econ, having a difficult time finding a job. I'm graduating (BS) in computer engineering, got a job offer with a DoD contractor in January along with a few other internship offers even though I'm only looking for an internship since I'll be doing grad school.
In short, it depends on what you studied, what type of industry you want to go into, and what kind of internships/experience you had during college.

I'm originally class of 09 but I've gotta stay for an extra year. I have another internship with the same company i did last summer (Federal Construction work) which will hopefully turn into a job next year.
