Yep, really private. My guess is the only thing that the BBC considers is left to discuss is whether they're going to fire him and therefore take a chance with regard to the future of the show (or is it his show/idea to take with him, no idea). I would be very surprised if there's any question inside the BBC over what he is supposed to have done.

You're privy to what happened?

No, hence my use of wording such as, "my guess is", "I would be surprised if" and "what he is supposed to have done".

Furthermore, I find it somewhat unlikely that a news story like this would break of him punching a producer, the story makes it into pretty much every big news source, only to turn out to be only an argument over who ate the last boardroom cookie, and the producer in question REALLY WANTED THAT COOKIE.

they should replace this week's Top Gear with Episode 1 of Top Gear USA and see how the British respond to that....LOL

The show has become a little stale of late. It would be great timing for them all to leave the BBC and start a new car show together. They're still good just need to reinvent themselves and take a new direction, while keeping what works (basically the chemistry between the three hosts).

So it was private then?

The only way I can guess that you're going with this tedious line of inquiry is that you're trying to tell me that I shouldn't be discussing the "alleged events", but it's as fair game as any other current event.

Let me ask you a question - do you care if he punched a producer?

The guy didn't go on heroine bender or anything.

Not directly defending him (we don't really know the story yet) but everyone has bad days. If it was just a scuffle, and whatever happened that day boiled-into a scuffle (people sometimes just have crappy days and implode at something stupid), that stuff happens. People freak-out a little all the time....

Not saying what he may have done is 'right' but this stuff happens in all walks of life, not just showbiz. He is just watched by 350M/week, so it matters more to the media. :)

I like this idea.

Top Gear is the best thing the UK has going for it. Is anyone watching BBC America for anything else? Star Trek: The Next Generation reruns? The Producer should be fired for interfering with Clarkson and risking the show. Clarksons the man.

The 2 big IPs BBC has is Doctor Who and Top Gear. TG has more mass-market appeal and is a HUGE cash cow for BBC. Politically, it also brings a lot of attention to the UK worldwide. It is information-providing as well as pushing UK tourism at the same time. It also brings a lot of UK pride to bear as well (sometimes a little shamefully so, in regards to choosing the 'best' car, but hey...)

This is likely why someone like the PM Cameron made the statement he did, for better or worse. I understand why he said what he said.

Two videos (about 1 day old, each) which you may have not seen. Both about 5 .. 6 minutes long. The first has much more information, than the second one.

It seems there is a significant risk, that this is the end of his (Jeremy) role in Top gear. But some sources say that things may be ok (Jeremy gets reinstated), in the end.

Apparently Jeremy's contract (with the BBC), ends at the end of this month. I.e. It will need renewing.

The whole thing is just silly nonsense. Its a fun show and I think it takes a special kind of person to do it. Probably someone with the quirks the star of this show has. I am not justifying anything that happened. But if it wasn't bad enough to require the Police then I am wondering if perhaps Pride is becoming the real issue.

As they say, you learn to take the good with the bad. Somehow I think pride will be in the way here. Not the first or the last time a good thing will be ruined from it either.

Agreed.

When a story like this comes out, all sorts of information (and misinformation) is revealed. What does seem to be true is that some of the BBC top-brass don't like Clarkson and have put him a somewhat of a shorter leash of-late. This all could be Clarkson just done with the BBC. Hopefully not though, its a great show and one that 350M people look forward to each week. :)

The following, gives me hope that the BBC can amicably sort this out, and the remaining parts of the current Top Gear series (Season) can be done, in the near future, with Clarkson at the Helm.

Latest news story about it.

Jeremy Clarkson approached BBC bosses about 'fracas'

_81566081_clarksonreuters.jpg

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson initiated the BBC investigation which prompted his suspension, after he informed BBC bosses of the alleged "fracas".

BBC News understands that the star phoned BBC head of television, Danny Cohen, to report the incident.

Producer Oisin Tymon, with whom the altercation took place, is not believed to have filed his own complaint.

Interviews are expected to be held with the star and other parties next week, and the show has been taken off-air.

Clarkson has expressed regret over the incident, which his co-presenter James May labelled "a bit of a dust-up".

An online petition calling for the star's reinstatement - set up by political blogger Guido Fawkes - has accrued more than 800,000 signatures since Tuesday.

I think they should take a leaf out of JC's book and televise a person of their choosing giving him a damn good kicking :p I wonder if JC would prefer an "amicable" method of conflict resolution or this one?

Danny Cohen really doesn't like him.

Which is understandable as he's not a particularly likable man, but then that's what makes him a great presenter.

Maybe a suitable punishment, would be to insist that Jeremy Clarkson has to (Only) drive an entry level Lada, Fiat 500 (old, original one, with crazy, weak/noisy engine), or even an Austin Allegro, for the next 3 months.

I wouldn't get too excited. There's no way JC is going to be off the air even if the beeb get rid of him. Sky, ITV and Channel 4 have been dieing to get hold of top gear for ages. JC is also friends with the head of sky and itv.

In short the absolute worst that will happen is that Top Gear will change channels and Clarkson will get a pay rise.
