His lack of income and wealth make him easily persuaded and bought off with money. Only the wealthy belong in government, as they aren't subject to such persuasions, and they are best able to put the interests of others, and not themselves, first.

You're either trolling or stupid, which one is it?

You're either gay or a nun, which one is it?

See how that works?

Let me break it down. What you wrote was incredibly stupid. You would either have to be insanely ignorant or the victim of a head injury to say that only the wealthy belong in government, so I figured I would give you an out by having you admit you were just trolling.

In some ways I hope that you actually believe that, because then I can make all sorts of fun of you. In other ways though I'm worried because I remember that you're trying to be an officer in the military and I know that if you're ever in charge of any of my friends they probably aren't going to be able to hide their contempt for your stupidity, and they might end up getting some NJP on your behalf... and that makes me sad.

Nebor is our own Captain Deluded. His errors in those few words include, a partial list:

- Implying that all non-wealthy people are dishonest, 'easily bought off'.

- Claiming that the wealthy are immune to being bought off. I guess we can raise their taxes, since they *aren't* incented by money any more. Funny how they keep chasing it.

- Claiming the wealthy help others. I guess those who choose low-paying jobs as teachers, in non-profits and elsewhere to serve others don't count with him.

On the other hand, all the local soup kitchens are run by the millionares serving soup.

- His ignorance of the poorer founding fathers.

Just maybe he pays for trips, campaigns, meals, donations and schooling out of his own pocket.
ANyway... face it, it will be a cold day in hell when someone of low income is able to make a run for office. I don't think any Wal-Mart employees will be on the ballot anytime soon.
Thats what you do with money...either run of office, or Tahiti.

Sounds more like he has no clue how to manage his finances.

Oh and he lives in a half a million dollar house. He might not be Ted Kennedy or John Kerry rich, but he certainly is not a poor working class stiff.

Wow you are out of touch. In the Philly area $500K for a house is pretty inexpensive. Townhomes really run you $350 for a decent/good one. $400K is the minimum for a rel new house with a small yard in a cookie cutter neighborhood.
If you got a $500K house you pretty much are middle/ upper-middle class. Either a husband with a great job, or a two income family with two good jobs and not too many kids.

Why can't he be a gay nun? You think too small.

If that were the case what's he waiting for? After all these years one would think he'd have many opportunities to cash in yet he hasn't.

Of course he is low middle class, he makes less then 5million a year.

I don't understand why being the least wealthy or most wealthy is a good or bad thing either way. It's simply irrelevant. Biden might be the least wealthy because he's modest and gives a lot away, or he might be stupid and can't handle his money. Who knows?

It matters when Republicans paint Democrats as "out of touch elitists"

don't worry too much about him... on top of his (it looks like from the senate pension plan docs) 80% of current salary and full med benefits for life he will do just fine on the talk circuit... although that was a pretty low advance on his book ($112k?)...

Who knows what he has to pay for outside of his home and such. His salary isn't a huge amount in DC, considering it is a pretty expensive place to live.

Maybe he follows the lead of Tennessee's state senators. Sure they only make $20,000 a year + a per diem... but the spouses can make upwards of $250,000 working as lobbyists.

An elitist does not mean being wealthy. Elitists think they know better than other people what is good for them. The dems certainly don't have any kind of monopoly on elitism....

Are you kidding? Are you saying that all rich people don't want any more money because they are rich? That's about the dumbest statement I have ever heard of.

The perception is that people want leaders who know what their lives are like. Even if politicians don't live the life of the common man, they certainly need to understand what the average person's life is like. If McCain genuinely thinks that the middle class starts at 5 million, then that's a problem.

That's a good point. And a good reason to be a nun.

I don't know if you've been watching Generation Kill, but the part where the Company Commander (Encino Man) asks for doc's honest opinion, and doc says "Well sir, the thing is you're incompetent, sir." Cracked me up. Captain America is pound for pound the funniest character in the show, though the group karaoke every episode is also pretty good.

Obviously. That's why he's lived so modestly despite being a senator for 30+ years and sitting on 2 of the most powerful committee's in the Senate; it was all part of his plan, because one day he hoped he'd be chosen as VP so that after a lifetime of public service he could collect a big bribe payout in one fell swoop instead of the mere millions he'd have had to nibble on for the past 3 decades.

This is America people. Survival of the fittest. If he is the "poorest" there is a reason for that. I really wouldn't want him or Obama in charge of this country in any way shape or form. How the hell do you expect to "expand" the economy, when this guy hasn't expanded his own for over 35 years?

good lord I hope you said this as a joke.

That's the great thing about Republicans, they will attack you for being too rich(kerry) or too poor (Biden).

I guess you need to be middle class ($5 million per year) and not know how many houses you have to be in the sweet spot.😉
