I ordered from Amazon for the 20% discount. Sucky part is they won't deliver until Friday even though it's just the code and doesn't have a disc. Needless restriction by EA.

EDIT: oops This was meant for the BF1 thread.

I don't see enough changes from Civ V to justify a new $80 game. It looks like they increased the city system (with districts or whatever) and changed it so that (some?) units can now stack. That sounds a lot more like an expansion pack than a new game to me.

Awesome thanks for the info I need to buy both! Just need to figure out how to get a m.2 drive to work on a motherboard that doesnt suppprt it.

Oh wait BF1 no longer a preorder 🙁

Technically you have a few days. Its just the early release. IIRC the amazon preorder prices apply the first week or two of release as well.

Thanks! I didn't know that either. Finally something my Prime is good for. Well except for you know that free shipping.

I think if I hadn't just recently bought a PS4 and I'm now working through the exclusives and I have a PS VR on the way, I might be more excited. I have over 1,300 hours of Civ V play time, so you could say I am a Civ Fanatic. However...The graphics look like shit compared to Civ V and from what I am hearing the AI is no better in this game. Civ 5 came out in 2010. No improvement in AI and the graphics are worse? Please. It's not helping that Beyond Earth was absolutely awful.

GMG has it for 20%+ off for either the standard or deluxe edition. Once you sign in and put the item in your cart it will show the discount. Got my key immediately after purchasing and activated it on Steam. Preloaded and ready to go!

Well that comes down to personal tastes but from my take they are not that bad. I do like the new fog of war where it looks like an old map, for the rest after i watched a 4hrs lets play of the preview build I do not find them that bad. But to each his own.

Surprised no updates since was released at midnight last night. Hoping for some posts here after the weekend gaming warriors take a crack at it.

Just finished a game as Russia, culture victory. God damn, their faith bonus is insane. I almost won a Religous Victory.

The AI...I could not keep them happy, they were always pissed at me for some reason or another. America conquered a city state (Bush is that you?), I declared war to liberate the city state...Did that...may have also taken Washington as well :bleh:

City development sure is interesting. It forces you towards mid-late game to really decide what each city is going to be focused on. Loving the new natural wonders - ran into Yosemite and Galapago's Islands.

The music is fantastic

I am going to miss playing as Spain and finding that natural wonder near my cap in Civ 5 though.

Not having to build roads anymore is amazing, they are built automatically by the trade-caravans. no longer need roads connecting your cities.

I really like the new design for workers/builders. They have "charges" now. Each charge will build one improvement. Improvements only take 1 turn to build.

Not having to be on the coast to build a navy is AMAZING!

Lastly: I approve of Sean Bean voice acting. Not quite Leonard Nemoy level, but I approve.

Only played briefly, but it was neat to see that founding a city on the coast gave a boost to seafaring tech.

Loved Bean's voice overs too. It adds a nice touch to the game.

Am I the only person who finds this version of Civ more tedious to play than the older versions? I miss being able to automate my workers, so I could focus on building my army. Now, I'm wasting tons of time rebuilding workers who self-destruct after using them 2 or 3 times to improve a city.

They automated roads so what they giveth the must taketh away.

In past versions I'd always have a pile of workers with nothing to do so it keeps me focused on their tasks.

Any one else like me who always plays the Civilization games but only after they've been out a year or so. I wait till they've patched up the bugs, released more content and also when I can get a good deal on it.

No I also don't like how the builders work. I also wish I could just skip when another civ is trying to talk to me. AI is just as bad if not worse than when civ 5 was released. Civs start spamming cities all over.

I had workers in Civ 4/5 who didn't have anything to do as well at times, but that was just because I had already developed everything near my cities. Once I developed a new tech, they went back to work and and finished the upgrades everywhere.
